Old dog thats been around other family members hes been with us for 18 years. He passed away earlier today. Half german shepherd half collie. Even his mother passed away earlier a couple of months ago and she was 20.

Now im stuck with the male siamese cat

Good luck and condoleances.

I love my dog more than anything else, she's ten now, and I hope I can still enjoy living with her for a long time to come. Sorry for your loss.

thanks. worst part for the dog before they pass away is that they start having a siezure or something then they just lay down on the floor where they can barely move.

at least my dog was inside the house and around me and not outside lonely

Sorry for your loss.

We lost a family dog in 2020 who has been with us for a long time. Probably... 17 years old? She was getting up there for her breed. I actually had her put down, since she was suffering from a chronic health condition that was causing her needless suffering, and her qol had diminished.

It's hard. Pets are like family. We lost a cat that had been with us for 20 years or so in 2019, so it's been a rough few years on the pet front.

I guess all I'll say is it's important to remember the good times with them. They give their entire lives to us, so it's crucial to honor their memory.

Sorry for your loss. I lost a dog at 17 years and it took me a few months to recover from the loss so I feel your pain. I've never known life without an animal of some kind in it whether it's a dog a cat Goldfish Tropical Fish Rabbits whatever. Pets are like family so when you lose a Pet it genuinely hurts.

Sad news, condolences. Its really overlooked by people who don't have pets, particularly dogs, how hard it is when it happens.

What are people's views on when this happens and when to get another dog - wait for quite a while or go straight out and get another to try and fill that void? Difficult stuff. Each have their own personality.

Digging a grave for my dog earlier today wasnt bad but then it started snowing all of a sudden.

Even had to wrap a blanket around my dog to be buried in and carry him out on a Radio Flyer wagon.

Good dog but i think ive had enough of raising dogs especially if theyre german shepherd. My ornery siamese cat hes still healthy for his age but pretty sure in the next couple of years the cat will die.

i hear birds such as mackaw parrots they live longer?

Had to put mine of 17 years down in February due to kidney failure. Worst day of my life. Months earlier over summer he ran a 5k w me under 22 mins. Crazy how fast it happened. Miss him dearly. He was my child but more so my best friend. Love you Ronnie

Besides my dog, i feel bad for anyone else's dogs where near the end of their life their fur baby end up having some form of cancer or their health gets messed up due to old age. I suppose smaller dogs have that same kid of problem when they get older?

@urrutiap Macaws are expensive based on what I heard. I've never had a Mackaw personally but I have had Budgerigars and Canaries before and they were pretty expensive to look after so I expect a Mackaw will be a lot more, they can be pretty demanding too.

It's always sad when an old pet dies but I always at least take some solace in the fact that they had a long life and they were loved and looked after, which is a lot better than a lot of animals get. Some people don't really get pets but I love my cats more than 99% of people I know. Then again I love cheese more than 99% of people I know so

@urrutiap The way I see it is that you gave it a long and happy life. This is what pets are for. To care for them. Many outside animals do not have that luck

Our cat died at 18 years of age. It was sad at first but then I said to myself "Damn that kitty lived a fantastic life here!"

Cheer up and give you Siamese lots of love and comfort

My condolences. My 16 year old dog died back in 2013 and I was devastated, so I know how losing a fur baby can be as bad as losing a relative. They are family after all.

My condolence about your loss, but stuck with a male siamese? My family and i had a male chocolate point siamese cat for 16 years which included most of my school years. He passed away a long time ago and i still miss him.

male siamese cat gets ornery. Even when the dog was alive, the cat would beat up my dog. There would be times where Id tell my dog to get him. fight the dang cat lol

It's sad to hear such news about pets. But he clearly lived a long, happy life.
