@Tjuz Oh, I do recall maybe seeing something about the third person perspective, now that you mention it. Do you think it’s ok to jump straight into OW2 without having completed the first game? I can’t remember how far in I was, probably only 5 hours or so. I remember I had just been introduced to the ship and had collected a companion or two. I spent time in some industrial town and there was a shady company that ran the town…? The details are very vague in my mind. 😂

On the subject of game prices, they really are all over the map. Standard AAA price has leveled out at $70 (€) but publishers keep trying to push the envelope. And then you have some games that feel like they should be $70 but launch at $50 or $60 — for example I think I actually paid $45 for Clair Obscur (that included the $5 pre-order discount). I understand that it was an unknown entity and a new IP by a smaller studio but that price is quite low compared to other similar types of new IP games like Lost Soul Aside, Hell is Us, Wukong, and Cronos (all launching at $60). Heck, I think Silksong is only $20.

In general I really like that publishers are exploring mid-range game prices though. There’s definitely a place for the $30-50 launch price (Helldivers 2, Split Fiction, Mafia Old Country, etc), not every new release has to be a full $70. And I do think there’s going to be a place for $80 games, now that the seal has been broken on that price point by MarioKart. GTA6 might launch at that price, who knows?

The advent of streaming services, frequent PSN sales, and DLC / more expensive Deluxe editions, have all muddied the water as to what is fair game pricing.

And in my case, my enormous backlog has made it so that I rarely pay full price since I don’t usually jump straight into the new release and I’m in a habit of just watching for a sale, then grabbing it when I think it hits a low point. In fact Clair Obscur (which I’ve still not played yet 😛) was the last game I’ve bought at launch and even then it was discounted and not full price. Before that it was Baldur’s Gate 3, which I plopped the full $70 for. It’s not that I don’t think games deserve my $70, but I might as well just pick them up for cheaper, closer to the time that I’ll actually play them.

@Mikeg1965 Enjoy! Nioh 2 is an all-timer for me personally. If you click with them, Nioh 3 just happens to be right around the corner 😄

@Mikeg1965 brilliant game and a great series! For some reason it doesn’t click with every souls-fan… but if it clicks you’re in for an absolute treat. Only advice I could give you is block… don’t dodge. You don’t get i-frames like you do in souls. It took me a while to great my modus-operandi to do this… but it helped a lot once I did.

@Th3solution Yeah, it's no problem jumping into the second one without having finished, or even played, the first one. There's obviously some connections between them in terms of the lore, but it's set in an entirely different system and the factions, characters, companions and whatever else is pretty much separate from the first. You can honestly see it as an anthology instead of a direct sequel to any of the events previously. At least what you've described from memory of the first game is totally accurate despite it being vague, so maybe you'll even catch on the one and only reference I've caught myself so far!

You're right in saying that there's also been an adventure of 50€ games in recent memory. Though I'd argue that that only feels like a mid-point now because they have raised the prices above 60€. I wouldn't be surprised if GTA tries to raise the price even further, but I'd be highly intrigued to see any game that thinks it could follow in those footsteps. There's already plenty of people complaining about the 80€ price tag, and that's already for some major games like Mario Kart. GTA is probably about the only franchise that could get away with charging more than that. Maybe Pokémon, if only they'd ever actually put any effort into their games.

But you're right, it ultimately doesn't matter so much for you and me both as I generally don't buy much at launch either. The Outer Worlds 2 was the first full-priced game I've bought at launch since... Metaphor ReFantazio? But even that was at a solid 20€ discount thanks to the free market on PC. A batting average of about one game per year at that price I'll consider affordable!

@graymamba Yes, I notice the missing I-Frames whenever I'm smacked from behind while' opening a door, I'm like HEY'!!!
I'll try Blocking instead of Parrying going forward as well, the Parrying does feel a bit hit or miss on this one.
Come to think of it, if they want you to Parry, they should add this training to the Dojo.
Unless it's there and I don't remember it.

so i finished Last Guardian and i enjoyed the voyage. Puzzles and a emotional story for the win. I started Kingdoms of Amalrur and played it for 60 hours, but didnt finished it. Too many missions and in the end just started to bore me. I liked the story but the game just feels unfinished in some ways.
Instead i started Hitman 2 and i also downloade Nex Machina which was and is alot of fun. Hitman 2 felt promising, but after some playing it became obvious that Agent 47 and me were never going to be friends. There is something about a game that wants you to plan a murder, sneak around and get away with it. I love destruction and mayhem
Instead i had a revelation and booted up God of War instead and Kratos gave me what i craved for. I pushed the give me God of War button and off i went. Merciless axe wielding fun and punching evil monsters in the face is what i need. Maybe i will have my 3 platinum before the fun is over

Currently watching the PS Store countdown for Satisfactory. I'm really looking forward to see how well it performs compared to it's PC counterpart. I have my spread-sheets ready to go. It takes a lot of planning to get a working factory/supply line off the ground. I expect they'll include a tutorial for newbies.

One minute to go.

Edit: The Devs are doing a launch stream over on Youtube. About 500 people so far.

It's beautiful and they did a fantastic job with the UI/Tutorial.

It’s kind of like other online platforms, where strategy and careful planning make a big difference — for example, on interactive game sites like https://moro-spin-fr.com/ , a thoughtful approach pays off.

Same here! I love that kind of structured chaos where everything clicks perfectly. Hope the console controls feel natural — building with a controller can be tricky.

@parhko Satisfactory? They are perfect, I played from 12 noon until 3am, it made the time just evaporate into nothing. That's not happened since Elden Ring, I already have 13hrs logged and all I've gotten off the ground is the start of a small power plant and iron factory. It makes such a difference to have infinite screws, rods and plates. I've been exploring a lot too, kiting and dodging things that can one shot me in order to steal the loot that I shouldn't even have yet. So many tickets for the Awesome machine.

So because I got heavily invested in Digimon Time Stranger for a good couple of weeks (I even went back to Hacker's memory for a couple of days to see just how much changed between entries) I've restarted Silent Hill F.

Kinda important to have a psychological horror's story fresh in the mind.

Only took 2 hours to get back where I was thanks to knowing mostly what I was doing now and having the combat down to a T (And running away when I need to).

And I've now made a chunk of progress and am just after the school section, in the otherworld with Fox Face.

I have absolutely no idea where the story is going at this point. Rinko's clearly going off the deep end... Maybe? I dunno to be honest but I'm enjoying the ride none the less!

@HallowMoonshadow Silent Hill f is such a great ride. I got pulled away from my New Game+ run by Cronos but now that I’m finished with that, I’m gonna jump back in right away. I do think it’s let down by an overly clunky combat system but it’s a minor gripe in an otherwise excellent horror game. I look forward to reading your thoughts!

In between games of Battlefield 6, I'm playing The Cult of the Lamb. It is another game i though would only take me a dozen or hours to complete, yet you could probably double that with my current time with the game.

It's an interesting mix of of roguelike (which is so far the runs are short enough not for me to get sick of them) and cozy base building. Cosy base building when you sacrifice your followers and can make them eat the meat of the dead ones (tip: don't do that at first, they will most likely get very ill and die).

I think I have spent too long on the base building, as at one point I ran out of a resource to perform Rituals, which currently I can only get by doing the dungeon runs. At first you have to do everything for your followers, but you can upgrade your base so they become more self reliant. I was so glad when I didn't have to clear up their poop and sick anymore!

@JohnnyShoulder
I really enjoyed Cult of the lamb, it has a lot of charm and despite fairly repetitive gameplay it never got old. Really upset me when one of my flock went to the big shepherd in the sky.

@Bentleyma
Yeah Thief is very much underrated imo but I guess it didn’t match what they think a thief game should be. However I do think the main hub is a bit of a mess and I did get lost quite a few times but thankfully the load times aren’t as bad as the PS3 version. Also quite a rare platinum if that is your thing.
Thief VR is out next month so it should be interesting to see how well that is received.

Thrillho

@JohnnyShoulder @CaptD Cult of the Lamb was great fun and I really liked the humour of it, and the combat was pretty satisfying.

The platinum was a challenge with the no hit runs on the bosses which I found was best done with the cloak that increased damage with every hit you did on an enemy but lost it all if you got hit. It was so frustrating to lose your 300% damage to a cheap shot just before the boss.

It sounds like it’s been made much harder since one of the updates though.

@Thrillho
I did manage to get the platinum post updates, it wasn’t too bad and I’m someone who isn’t very good at these types of games. I think the platinum is just time consuming more than anything, getting all the lamb variant types was the real grind. I also completed the dlc which added a chunk of time but it was all good fun.

My problem is not the combat system itself but the lack of enemy variety @Metonymy.

There's like... 4 different versions of the mannequin enemies and then a normal/dark world version of the 4 other enemy types and they don't change up too much between them. A couple more different enemies would've gone a long way for me.

But I also understand that this was Neobards first proper game (And no doubt had a smaller budget) so I get it.

I actually finished off my first run over the weekend and wow.. What a ride. It was kind of amusing as I never actually took any red pills (as I didn't think they were all that useful) and relied on bandages and first aid kits instead. Unintentionally doing the one main condition for the other endings without realising it

Hinako's va (In JP) is absolutely amazing Especially in that scene in the house talking to the other Hinako. Plus that scream of Sakuko's as she's locked in the dark was chilling too. Good VA all around (And I'm curious to see how the English dub is) .

I ended up quickly blitzing through NG+ to do the joke ending and that was a cute ending. Much needed bit of levity after that bleak first ending! 😅

@HallowMoonshadow I agree, the game would have benefited from more enemy variety. It also doesn’t help that the situations in which you have to fight them become fairly repetitive towards the end. I don’t know, maybe it’s the excellent pacing of the game but it didn’t really bother me as much as a combat system that felt like it didn’t go anywhere. You’re doing the same thing by the end, against the same enemies, in the same kind of arenas…Upon reflection, I suppose my general “meh” feeling surrounding the combat is all of the above wrapped up together. Kind of amazing that it truly doesn’t wreck the game.

Nicely done on finishing those runs! Unfortunately, my Hinako was popping red pills from the moment they entered the palm of her hand, and didn’t stop even in New Game+, so I squandered half a play through 😬 She had a real problem.

I didn’t realize that the English VO was a dub so I started with that but ended up switching early on. There was nothing wrong with it, I just prefer to get the intended experience, so to speak. I agree, her acting was phenomenal. The presentation all around is incredible actually. Think you’ll go for more runs yet?
