@GirlVersusGame Yeah, my experience with Demons Souls put me off souls game for awhile or maybe forever. I have tried both dark souls and Bloodborne and its just frustrating, it feels like the game wants me to play in a certain way, and i just want to have some fun. I dont want to block the sword in some rigid pattern to win, i want to win in some kind surprising fashion. I dont know, maybe i am lost in the online world where strange things can happen. Dont get me wrong, i do appreciate the artistery of the souls games and their dedication to the craft of gaming. The atmosphere of the games is one of a kind.
At the moment iam playing Ghostrunner, which has the one hit, you die and then roll back to the checkpoint rule. Its hard at times, one level had me dying atleast 340 times before i finished it. I dont know if you have ever played it but there is one level where this supercomputer is of the rails and shooting lasers everywhere, its a ***** show of death. You just die if you dont move, after 10 or 15 deaths i was ready to quit but suddenly i had a moment when everything flows and progress came. I still died atleast 200 times but i conquered that level in the end. Maybe i am lacking this moment in Souls. I havent given up Souls yet.
I think the last game i gave up after frustration was the last X-com game. I absolutely love the game but there was this level where alot of high level aliens came together and absolutely erased my team completely. At that moment, after starting over a couple of times, after reloading several times, changing difficulty, i just couldnt handle starting over again. Sometimes games are just too unforgiving. Thinking about it now, i am tempted to start over again.
I am not gonna break my controller, its way to expensive in these Trump Times
Cracking on with Hogwarts.
I must say that I’m quite enjoying it, yes there is an element of the Ubi formula with all the collectibles but the world and characters are interesting.
I have just acquired a broom so the wizardy world is my oyster.
@graymamba@GirlVersusGame I had another go this morning, despite yesterday's melodrama. And I think I have realised that these games, even Sekiro, are like 90% strategy. I feel like I know what works for his first phase now and am getting much better at putting it into practice. I got him down to his second phase the first time I tried it today, and left it there after practicing a bit at the second phase ,learning the timings etc. and I definitely feel a lot better and a lot less frustrated now, less of a banging your head against a wall kind of feeling. So I think breaks, patience and learning is the key to these Miyazaki masterpieces.

@GirlVersusGame
Glad you are enjoying it especially as some people seemed to have dropped off it quite quickly, it does seem a little bit of a Marmite game.
Yes I remember that “you have a couple of moonstone” quest, I didn’t have 500 but i was pushing three figures.
I do enjoy the various Merlin and Ancient Magic puzzles although some of the Hogwarts castle puzzles are a bit out there and basically amount to try various spells until you find what works with which statues.
I too will probably go for the platinum as I do like my platinums, one tip though is to have a list written down of the enemies types hit by ancient magic (killing is not necessary). There are 34 but there is no way of knowing which you have done. The trophy is called Finishing Touches.

Played a bit of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 this morning. Still in the prologue but man, it got me right in the feels already. I can't wait to delve further into it tonight and over the weekend. Incredibly excited to discover more!
I now have 9 days off work and I couldn't have picked a better time, what with the release of both The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscura: Expedition 33. Needless to say I shall be immersing myself in those. I'll also be playing Forza Horizon 5 on the side.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is absolutely incredible. I've been loving every minute so far. I've just gotten up to the Gestral Village and found Sciel. The landscapes and vistas are absolutely beautiful (I posted a few screenshots in the screenshot thread!) and the turn-based combat has so much more to it than I initially expected! It's really fun thinking two or three steps ahead and trying to set the party members up for some pretty sweet wombo-combos. It's even more enjoyable once you hit those sweet perfect parries and initiate a counterattack. So cool!
@Jimmer-jammer Oh, I didn't even touch on the music!!! My god. It's fantastic as well! The music is amazing - especially one track in particular featuring an accordion melody during certain boss fights. The music does a fantastic job conveying the emotion at key story moments and during boss fights. If you do pick it up, you're definitely in for a treat!
I definitely have no regrets picking it up at full price and honestly, if you're a fan of turn-based games, I think this game is a must.
@Kairuuu Great to hear! I’ve purchased it and have it nestled in the library in my virtual pile of shame. But I don’t think it will sit there too long.
Any performance problems or bugs?
How difficult is it to hit the timing of the parries? I’ve been well documented on here to not be a fan of parrying in games, but I feel like a turn-based parry isn’t going to be a problem for me. It looks like it’s more of a timing/rhythm type of button press, as opposed to parrying in action games where both characters are moving in real time and you’re trying to balance out your positioning and when to strike and when to block or dodge as well. It seems like a different mechanic altogether. Am I wrong? I don’t remember any other turn based games that have had this sort of parry option. There was this old PS1 Square game called Vagrant Story which had a timing based hybrid turn based attack and was critically acclaimed but never really caught on. I quite enjoyed it but just never finished it, for some reason. Anyway, this game brings back memories of Vagrant Story.

@Th3solution No huge performance issues or bugs that I’ve encountered. There have been one or two textures I’ve noticed way off in the distance early on that began flickering and glitching out a little but it’s nothing game-breaking. The lip sync during cutscenes is a little hit or miss too but, again, nothing game-breaking.
As for parrying, it’s quite a tight window. If you parry a single attack, or all attacks in a single attack combo, you’ll unleash a counterattack which is very cool. Most (if not all) attacks you can parry you can also dodge which has a more flexible window, so you can choose to play it safe and dodge or opt for the parry and get a counterattack in. You’ll still need to time your dodges though. There are some QTEs you’ll need to do on your skills to maximise your damage as well and you won’t need to worry about positioning or anything either.
It’s really good once you get the hang of it because once you perfect your dodges and parries you’ll essentially take no damage.
Act I completed on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I was most certainly not expecting that to happen in the cutscene — don't worry, no spoilers here. The boss beforehand was pretty awesome too. I gotta say, the designs of a lot of the enemies and bosses have been spectacular. They all look fantastic in their own way.
I'll probably do some more exploration now that I've unlocked a new ability for completing Act I and I've already discovered a few places I haven't been able to get to previously. There's also one optional boss in particular which I need to go back to fight because I ignored him originally. There's also another that I tried to kill but he keeps destroying me, so I'll save that one for another time. 😅
Having a blast so far. The game is definitely living up to expectation.
I’m roughly 10 hours deep in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. The game keeps getting better and better. I’m loving all the story beats, the optional cutscenes, the world map, and the combat. It’s one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played.
I am currently playing Oblivion Remastered and so far I am level 17 and leader of the fighters' guild. And now I plan on joining the thieves' guild. I plan on joining all the guilds before I beat the main story.
I am playing no fast travel, so I should get 300+ hours out of the game (my first play through there will be many), by completing every quest in the game.
@Bentleyma Cool. It would be very cool to hear more of your thoughts on the Oblivion remaster when you have finshed it or made some progress on it becuse it seems very cool. Even if I have not taken the time to download or buy the game myself yet.
*personally Iam of kind replaying a game atm btw .
