@nessisonett Demon's Souls is a weird one, but when it clicks, it clicks. Incredibly atmospheric in places.

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

Pied 3-1 in Demon’s Souls last night, was doing my head in. Went to 5-1 which had a bit of an annoying layout (those giant ones with the clubs are a ballache) but the boss was pisspoor, just Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas with practically zero health and truly dreadful attacks that missed me completely. Oogie Boogie in the GBA game is literally like 20 times harder than that boss. Grabbed the Mirdan Hammer in 5-2 which means my build is shaping up, grinded a bit until I got a Blessed Mirdan Hammer +2 which is very handy now, also F*CK 5-2, up there with Blighttown for just being bloody annoying but not quite Shrine of Amana level. Got the shortcut at least for when I decide to do the boss.

Went back to 4-1 which I’d already cleared of loot and oh look yet another terrible boss, whack thing while avoiding incredibly telegraphed attacks then hit weak point (Tower Knight but easier). I assume the open nature means that the later bosses in each area are much better, would make sense.

Went to 4-2, killed the grim reaper thing second attempt and got the obligatory boot into a pit by Patches but at least I found the miracle guy so could finally grab Regeneration to fully embrace the regen build, I basically just don’t need to smoke weed/eat grass anymore which is fun. Not sure if I should just go back to 3-1 before trying 2-2. Probably a good idea but the mindflayers are an irritation.

I just finished Space Marine 2. What a great game! I’m excited to play cooperatively when my best friend has the time. In the meantime, I properly started Stalker 2, and so far the game is awesome. The most recent patches have helped tremendously. The level of immersion this game has is in a league of its own. I’m playing more reserved, being patient, and really planning my excursions. And I’m only 3-hours in. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.

Finished 3-1 and 2-2 in Demon’s Souls. My build seems fairly unstoppable by now, just stacking regeneration where I can. Flamelurker should have been more difficult than he was, he barely did any damage to me and got stunned by just an R1 hit from my hammer. Gave his soul to Ed which lets me upgrade my shield so that it regenerates even faster. Brilliant.

Dragon God dead. That was easy.

Playing thru GTA V slowly but surely, trying to savour the interactive-movie type experience. Did the prologue and Franklin's first mission. Saved. Got out.

I love the in-game hip hop radio stations, of course, and it definitely has been giving me gangster movie vibes, as a counterpoint to the Uncharted series' Indiana Jones movie quality.

Wow. Dirty Colossus was a bit pathetic. The bosses really are rubbish in Demon’s Souls aren’t they?

@nessisonett Wait to you get to the final boss! 😂

Garl Vinland and Maiden Astraea were very easy again. He just sort of slammed his hammer into the wall repeatedly. The two Maneaters have been the only difficult bosses and that was mostly due to being janky as hell. Guess I’ve got a few to go but wow, this has been one disappointing game so far.

@Jimmer-jammer I couldn't resist, realizing that it was still directed by Miyazaki despite not strictly falling into the Souls category, and put GTA V on hold after beating the prologue and first mission, and dived fully into Sekiro, immersing myself in the game. I am having a great time with it so far and just working on trying to find a way to make the combat 'click' for me by farming the first enemies after the prologue, second or third Sculptor's Idol location, just practicing. Seems like a great game so far, but definitely not Souls.

I was also thinking something like Samurai Champloo would be a nice accompaniment to the game, Idk if you are familiar with the series?

Also thought, even if I don't beat the game, it will still be nice preparation for Nine Sols.

Also, what was the particular concern for you with regard to the Sword Saint?

Marvel Rivals isn’t too bad. It’s a bit hectic and the third person camera makes some heroes a bit of a mess to aim with but the foundations are solid and there’s so much room to grow. Heroes are pretty diverse but there’s a distinct gap between damage heroes and tanks/healers in terms of numbers and that means most games are filled with damage heroes more than anything. Mostly played Storm and Hela and I really enjoyed Hela, Magneto was fun too. There’s comparisons to Overwatch to be made but to be honest, Overwatch was clearly made by more competent devs as that game was much more well-rounded even on launch with the balance issues. It’s a solid start but there’s improvements to be made especially in terms of readability.

@Russwho yeah either Black Myth or Stellar Blade should prove different enough from the other two you’ve mentioned to feel fresh and re-engage you. I always try to alternate genres for that reason… though it doesn’t always pan-out that way if I’m honest.

@Russwho I get you dude but conquering the stuff that makes you work for it is part of the fun 👍

@Jimmer-jammer Thanks for the sage advice on the game, hopefully you can return to Sekiro yourself one day, my friend.
How is Metaphor: ReFantazio going for you? Looking forward to the holidays?

@CJD87 How's it going, man? Playing anything good that you would recommend these days? I'm currently playing the "Hesitation is defeat..." game, as per my display pic. 😃 Enjoying it thus far, still in the early stages.

Hey! The FromSoft fan-base will shoot me for this... but I still maintain that Sekiro is the best output they have had, and remains their 'Magnum Opus' work, even slightly moreso than Elden Ring. Such a cool game, and an amazing sense of satisfaction when you beat a boss. Have you got to Lady Butterfly yet?

Been a strange gaming year for me, first year where I find myself gravitating moreso towards the Indie space (instead of AAA)

My top 3 GOTY so far:
1) Balatro
2) Nine Sols
3) Lorelei and the Laser Eyes (currently playing this, and am honestly blown away.... its like a weird mix between old-School PS1 Resident Evil crossed with Myst!)

@Khwarezm89 love those games and was really glad to hear the definitive versions are finally in a decent state. III is far and away the weakest out of the three but is still great… and should definitely be played first as it would be a big step-down if played after Vice City (most people’s favourite) and/or San Andreas (my favourite). It’ll be a while until I get around to them myself but I can wait tbh.
