I'm looking for recommendations for a decent wireless headset for PS5.
Is the Pulse 3d any good? I'm also considering the Razer kaira for playstation headset too. Any of you used either of these headsets? Or a good alternative?
I have the Sony Pulse 3D - they are 'OK' but the Audio Quality is not as good as my B&O Beoplay Portal headset, definitely not as comfortable or as well built, but you'll have a difficult time trying to find 'better' at that Price Point and you know its going to work well with PS5's more bespoke Audio.
It all comes down to budget and what you 'prefer' from the Audio - some are 'too' bass heavy (great for big explosions etc but not great for Music as its too 'muddy'), some distort at 'loud' volumes, Mic quality varies too - which maybe a concern to 'streamers' but most are 'adequate' for MP chat. Point is, there are a lot of Variables and quite a few that come down to personal preference and even what games you may play. Play FPS MP's for example, you may want a headset that can 'boost' footstep audio, maybe have a 'punchy' heavy Bass to feel the 'explosions' so that will influence what 'headset' maybe right for you.
The Pulse 3D seems to be a 'decent' headset - 'relatively' cheap for what it is and when compared to other brands with similar features/audio quality but whether its the 'best' headset for you, only you can decide by 'trying' it. I think its more than 'adequate' for my needs right now, but whether you will feel the same or would be better looking at alternatives, I don't know - we all have different preferences...

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
@eddibhoy I have Pulse 3D’s. Have had them for about 6-8 months. Before that I used wired Audiotechnicas and the sound was maybe slightly better with the wired set, but it’s not enough of a difference to want to fight with the wires. The battery life of the Pulse 3D is pretty good. I’m guessing but I probably get 10 hours per charge, maybe more. Seems like I charge my DualSense twice for every one charge of my Pulse 3D. They come with a hardwire option that you can plug into the DualSense and use them without the wireless connection like you would standard headphones if you ever ran out of battery power, although I’ve never had to do that and the cable is still coiled up in the original packing from when I bought them.
I like that they aren’t noise canceling, and I can still hear the phone ring or the doorbell when I’m playing. They are slightly more heavy on the treble than my other set, which is fine by me because I like the higher clearer tones over too much bass.
One downside is you have to plug in the receiver dongle into a USB slot on your PS5, so you have this tongue sticking out at you from your console with a little light at the end. Of course you could be clever and plug it into one of the ports in the back, but I’ve not tried that, and I assume it should work fine on any of the three USB ports. The connection though is seamless with no set up or download. They connect near instantly every time I turn them on.
Honestly @eddibhoy ... I actually purchased the Pulse 3Ds when I originally got my PS5, but sold them pretty much immediately as I found them to be pretty large & obtrusive + not very comfortable.
So I sought out an alternative, something that would cover gaming with 3d audio + be suitable for taking work conference calls.
Went for the 'Logitech H800' in the end, which are excellent. You can find this set online for <70 £GBP, and I've never looked back! Very highly recommended.
@eddibhoy I've got the Turtle Beath Stealth 700 Gen 2. I've been impressed with them as they feel more comfortable and the sound is more impressive than the Sony Platinum headset I had.
They are more expensive than the Pulse headsets however.
@Th3solution I think you find that is the case with most wireless headsets for the PS5, that you need a USB dongle to use them.

@JohnnyShoulder Oh, I didn’t realize that the console couldn’t do a direct Bluetooth connection to a headset. I’ve only ever had Sony’s products so didn’t know that all the second party headsets do the same thing.
I wonder why the console can’t just use its own Bluetooth to connect like it does for the DualSense.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
@Th3solution I think it is to do with that they could interfere with each other and there would be a lag in the audio, especially when it comes to multiplayer, if there wasn't a dedicated Bluetooth channel for the headset.
Not sure how accurate that is as I did a bit of online research on it before.

@eddibhoy I bought the Steelseries 7P+, I have never used the other head sets so it's hard for me to do a comparison but my view on them is that I love them, they are great. They are so comfortable, sound great and being white, they match my PS5 wonderfully. I would recommend them and wouldn't hesitate to buy them again
My only grip (if you can call it that) is that it uses a Micro-USB charging cable compared to the USB-c, which I used to charge my controllers and phone. That said, the battery life seems great so not a massive game changer (excuse the pun)
I can plus the USB type C transmitter into my Huawei phone and I can use my headset for music and phobe calls if I wanted to but this is a bit gimmicky and although it worked fine, I found the sound not as spectacular as my dedicated wireless earbuds
@Emperor_Rusty I almost got those, as they were one of the best in the price range when I was researching which ones to buy. Unfortunately they were out of stock on Amazon when I went to buy them.

I use a HyperX Cloud Flight. Works great. Something to consider on it is that the microphone is detachable and not retractable. I don’t know of any PlayStation games that use a microphone but something to think about. I haven’t played a game yet on PlayStation that uses mic so I just leave it detached, rather convenient for me. I think the Original Cloud Flight is better than the S. Haven’t tried any of the steel series headsets.
@JohnnyShoulder I was very lucky, I got mine a week before I got my PS5 and got my PS5 from launch. The best part was I had some. Money vouchers from work so they were effectively free - result
Kind of a letdown to think your USD$200+ JBL (or Bose or whatever brand) Bluetooth headsets won't work with the PS5 "like a charm", while the used earbuds you got on e-bay for USD$1.99 would actually do with the 3.5mm jack on the controller. Of course, there is always a workaround to this kind of stuff but makes you think about how stuff like 3rd Bluetooth accessories should work out in the current gen of most electronic devices, especially since you are kind of investing a bit extra for the latest in gaming consoles here.
I'm tempted by the 7P+. My next door neighbour has the pulse 3d set and let me try them. They were decent, but I have an old pair of the Bass Impact headphones from PS3 and the sound sounded better on those, compared to the pulse 3d. I let my wife hear both sets, and she thought the old PS3 headset sounded better!
