Topic: PSN Store Needs Clearing Up

I got a few PSN store cards for Christmas and I'm browsing the store trying to find something to buy, I'm interested in Cyberpunk 2077 but I like games to let me play how I want and looking at the trophies there's missable ones which if not unlocked require a new play through.

And I can't be bothered with that anyhoos I'm browsing the January sale section and after the 25th row starts to show the absolute crap that is flooded this gaming shop, just like the Nintendo eShop.

But as I'm scrolling it has some games between like Mega Man surrounded by tat like Jumping (insert food item here), Simulation games with thumbnails which AI clearly was used as the game doesn't even look like it's got a Disney style character in it. I don't get why Sony have no Quality control on its store because it seems anyone can upload anything to it, it's clear they are just easy platinum trophies games for pence but again it overlooks indie games that don't get a chance to shine.

Unless it's word of mouth or a suprise review etc Steam had this issue years ago with Greenlight, really good games being pushed down for tat.

I absolutely agree! I used to enjoy browsing the sales sorted by price - low to high to look for some bargain bin selections. You can pick up some hidden gems, older games of indies that you've missed for a few quid every now and then but as you say, it's become so cluttered that I have to sort through mountains of cack to spot the ones worth checking out.
I would like to see a feature implemented that would just let me block or ignore some publishers from all of my store searches. So whoever keeps pumping out these shovelware efforts would not even show up for me, and I assume many others. If these people realised that their games didn't show up for say 90% of people on the store then surely they'd realise they have to change or just stop.

Good points by all. The possibility of finding a hidden gem or a game you may be waiting for a sale is negated by the sheer amount of junk games that populate the store. This is definitely a major problem because it discourages searching for anything having to filter through what equals to shovelware

Year later and it's still a mess, got myself a £20 top up card as I was looking for a game on sale and it's even more worse than a year ago. I got so annoyed that I gave up searching think I got to row 30 off the £20 under sale before I quit

I definitely agree as well. What gets under my skin is all the DLC garbage (like skins and add-ons and random currency for purchase in F2P games and such) which populates the store. You can filter most of that out though, but it’s just annoying that I have to remember to do that. I find that it’s more useful to just wishlist the games I want to watch and then check the list each time a new sale launches.

I just looked over that $20 sale and there’s actually some really great deals there. I’m tempted by some of those myself

@Th3solution Yeah I check the new lists out each time but as great as that is we shouldn't have too, the amount of crap I was seeing was a joke.

Everything was a simulator with AI thumbnails

I don't get why people have an issue with those kinds of games existing, if you don't like it, just don't buy it, it's as simple as that. There are people who enjoy those games that are out there. I am willing to negotiate on everyone having their own publisher blocker on their Playstation Network account Store though. Also, implementing optional filters for anyone who wants them would help a lot as well I think.

@Nakatomi_Uk I've tried S.S.S. for science, it's really bad but I reckon OnlyFans Simulator won't be much better. There's some awful AI slop on there and the bridge to PC means some of my favorite Indie PC games have made the jump. Had Sony not loosened up a little those games wouldn't be available on PS5. Most of the adult listings can be hidden through your account settings. It only bothers me when a janky PC game that I do want to play on console doesn't make the jump but a blatant inferior rip-off does, for example My Summer Car hasn't but My Summer Drive has. They could fix some of those problems by implementing a better filter, they don't have to scorch the store, just develop some better browsing options.

@ShieldHero They are asset flip games that are just shovelware from the likes of Unity, most are not even games but quick trophy unlocks for £1

They fill space and push down proper indie and good titles the pecking order and thus proper gaming Devs don't get the money because hardly no one can be bothered to traverse through all the *****.

Steam Greenlight did it years ago and Valve realised that and ended it after loosing money, these crap things fill up discount pages. They should be under a category or there own and under their own deals page, it's not about don't like them don't buy them that's not the point of my post, I wouldn't buy such crap at all. It's about how the store is full of crap and robbing decent Devs potential sales, how many Devs have shut down because of low sales and not making money ???

@Nakatomi_Uk pretty wild that theres semi-*****graphic games allowed on PSN storefront and even nintendo. its already plastered all over steam daily, wild times where in.

And that's why I think an individual optional publisher blocker and other optional filters would be great 😃.
