OK! I watched the newest list of games coming to PS5 and two things really bothered me.
1) The graphics look EXACTLY like PS4 PRO! Like, LITERALLY! I re-watched the videos of the games like, 2 times to make sure. NOPE. Same exact shit! Guys, this is UNACCEPTABLE! Im trying to convince myself, its only the demos, only the videos etc. its BARELY IN PRODUCTION etc. Cannot be true, of course. BUT....
2) I tried to find out if these PS5 games have PS4 releases as well since if the design is basically PS4 PRO style, might as well get them cheaper on PS4 and play them there UNTIL they make PS5 PRO and update the software. BUT, there is a huge problem! MOST, if not ALL, games made exclusively for PS5, do not have official release dates for PS4!!! Now that is huge! Does it mean, we will not get them in PS4 format at all, ever?? If thats the case, then it will be the first PS in a long time to not have both games released on current and past generation console same time since.... I dunno, PS1!? That really bothers me, A LOT!

@Skoda If you look at Ratchet and Clank rift apart the world has far greater density than the PS4 Ratchet and Clank. There are additional effects that wouldn’t be possible on PS4 such as the raytraced reflections on Clanks body. The gameplay also wouldn’t work on PS4 as every time you jump to a rift you would have to load for a few minutes rather them being near instantaneous. Particularly important when you’re jumping within the same world in a combat situation.

You need to understand that it was explained prior to the stream that it would be broadcast in 1080p 30fps due to the mass of people watching. They said it would not be a true representation of what these games would look like and expect them looking much better in person.

The 'True 4K' uploads are available on YouTube and are closer to how they should look.

Also, it is highly unlikely any of these games will get PS4 releases. New gen, new system, new games. This is how it's always been.

Did you expect PS2 games to run on PS1? or PS3 games to run on PS2? Of course not. Don't see why people expect that now. The way is forward, not back.

If you have a 4K display and watch the trailers in 4K, it blows PS4 Pro games out the water. There’s no question about it.

@GADG3Tx87 Not strictly true, the show was in 1080p due to the technical headache of getting all the content in 4k from all the developers from around the world. Nothing to do with how many people were going to watch it.

The majority of PS4 owners I reckon do not have a Pro, just like me, so the jump is huge. And there is no guarantee there will be a PS5 Pro. Personally I do not think there will be a need as it is going to be a much harder sell. Don't see in a couple of years 8K being where 4K was when the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X were released for instance.

I buy a system for its games. I am sure many “must play” games will be released for it. The SSD drive and the new PS5 controller will be amazing. On paper, the PS5 looks to be about twice the power of the PS4 pro.

I watched the stream and I have a PS4 Pro - despite the fact the stream was only 1080p and 'low' quality, even I could see a difference - especially in games that are 'sequels' where I have a some reference point to see how things have progressed.

Granted Spider-Man wasn't really a good start - at least in terms of showing how the visuals may of improved (may need to watch a 4k version but not a lot of actual game-play to compare) but Ratchet and Clank was a step above the PS4 Pro and the PS4 version was certainly a great looking game. Even if you take away the transitions from one area to the next in such a quick succession - something that would be impossible on PS4 - the density in the worlds was something else. Moving on to Horizon, that too upped the density and the first game wasn't exactly lacking the first time around. The amount of wildlife in the water, let alone all the plants etc too was a big step up. Watching that in 4k and difference is obvious.

This video is worth watching too - they don't pull punches either and will say what they see, what they find etc.

and if you are still in doubt, try looking at the 4k uploads of the game trailers on youtube - and remember, youtube has some compression too - yet even with that, the difference is obvious. With Detroit: Become Human releasing on PC, they also were able to compare what difference Chequerboard rendering has with native resolutions and basically came to the conclusion that a CB 4k - which renders each frame at 50% 4k resolution (1920 x 2160 - 4.15m pixels) gives a better image quality than 1527p (also 4.15m pixels) but not quite as good as a native 4k (8.3m pixels) but more of a match for 1800p (5.76m pixels) Obviously, native 4k will provide a boost to sharpness and detail. That's on top of all the other improvements the newer hardware offers.

You can stick with your Pro if you like, if that's 'good' enough for you. A lot of the 3rd Party games for the first few years will probably release on PS4. Sony though won't be releasing many (if any) first party games on PS4 - even if they could be scaled down to work on that hardware. If they tried to get R&C working, you would jump into a portal and be flying in that for a minute waiting for the next area to load, scaled down to really low res to cope with all that extra density, scale down the polygons too to help the GPU cope with rendering, maybe have pop-in on more distant objects because the CPU can't cope with having all those objects to track and tell the GPU what to draw etc - it would be a 'different' game experience for sure...

That's without considering any audio improvements and haptic feedback from the controller - that's just looking at the Visual presentation and what the hardware has allowed. If you are still not convinced by any of this, you can always wait to see how those multi-generational games compare at launch - and those games most likely were built with current gen in mind and then 'enhanced' for next gen rather than built for next gen and scaled down to PS4/Pro. Then you can decide if its worth upgrading then or wait until enough games release that make it worth upgrading that don't release on old technology....

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

I'm gonna be honest, absolutely fed up of the negative comments when Sony brought the fire.

If people can't see the difference, then I'm sorry buy spectacles. The PS5 is going to be awesome just like the previous 4 consoles.

The big difference in the Horizon trailer for me was the grass. Grass looks rubbish in the first game, at least compared to later PS4 games like Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima. The worlds will be way more dense and that’s a great thing, Witcher 3 for example was a lot of fields that looked identical, despite it being a brilliant game.

@JohnnyShoulder social distancing mate. Kyles busy with work and stuff.

Just look at the lead in post, All PS5 games have no release date on PS4??? Wtf does that even mean. It's a new gen, first parties shouldn't cater new games to the old gen after the release of new tech. Backwards compatibility is important to me to bring forward my library - But the new games should be focused on the new tech. Otherwise what is the point of buying the PS5?

The problem I have is the swathe of comments I'm seeing from obvious trolls or low IQ gamers and it's becoming frustrating. GT7 and Ratchet and Clank looked good enough in the first 15 minutes to see what the next gen will be capable of. Negative, negative, negative. Sony presentation was fantastic in my opinion, I genuinely can't envisage a gamer who would honestly say it was bad or even critique it in the way that first comments written.

@nessisonett you know what I mean though.

Sony brought the goods via a slick and professional presentation. Good stuff for almost every fan. All shown running on the PS5. GT7 looked photo realistic.

We heard similar noise early last gen from weirdos. The reality was even launch game Infamous second son looked next gen. Then the Order 1886 was gob smackingly good looking. You can argue about the gameplay but they both looked world's apart from the previous generation of consoles.

So here we are, the circles been squared and the same noise and insane comments. It's 30fps, doesn't look better, rubbish games yada yada yada. Sony got the presentation so right with a solid line up of first wave games, this is without the surprise packages they have inevitably got in store.

@themcnoisy If all these ones ‘aren’t buying the PS5’, they’ll surely be off the site sooner rather than later. Either that or they’re just massive trolls/just saying crap for crap’s sake.

@themcnoisy
Seems to happen with pretty much any popular site or forum, sooner or later it devolves into too many people just looking to start an argument and wind other people up.

We both know the PS5 will be fantastic, trolls can say otherwise as much as they like, won't ever make it true. A lot of people getting tetchy, stating every game should be 4k native and locked 60fps. Apparently that's all the matters for games to be next gen, it's very silly.

@themcnoisy Just stay away from the comments sections for now. There are certain ones I try to avoid like the plague, usually ones with tons of comments. It's not worth it as I just end up going all Hulk. Thankfully it has not vomited on to forum that much, only a couple of bad apples have shown up.

@nessisonett I only found out the other day that gamer is now used as a derogatory term. I've used that to describe everyone on here in the past lol.

The new Horizon game alone would get me to buy a PS5. I’m so getting a 4K TV with my PS5.
