@Arugula The UI reveal is probably one of the best parts of the buildup to a new console launch if your name wasn't the Xbox One or Wii U
I don't expect too much of an overhaul from the PS4 UI but the peek we got at the June Showcase already tells me they're attempting to at least try and merge the aesthetics of the cross media bar and the PS4 home menu together. I like it quite a bit. Wouldn't be surprised if more was shown during the Wednesday event.
@Arugula I doubt we will, mostly be games and then the price and release date right at the end like how they revealed the console. But you never know. Not really high on the list of things I wanna see in all honesty, but it would be nice to see it.
I think it would be quite clever if the whole stream was like watching someone using a PS5. So it starts with the 'press home button' prompt then load up a game, go straight into several minutes of one game then switch to another all in a matter of seconds. Maybe have the logos up for the games we know about but maybe a blank square if there is a surprise or 2. It could end with going to the Playstation Store and finding a PS5 pre-order page with price and date.
I know it's a pipe dream given Marvel Games is licensing out their characters all over the place between companies like Square Enix and Insomniac Games, but I'd love to see another in house Sony studio tackle a Marvel Comics character. After how good Ghost of Tsushima was (and still is as I'm playing it), I'd love for Sucker Punch to get their hands on Blade or Shang-Chi, or Santa Monica doing an open-world Hulk game with the gameplay of Ultimate Destruction but with the narrative quality of God of War that can really delve into Bruce's torn identities.
@TheFrenchiestFry It's funny you say Hulk because Cory Barlog has made a few changes to his Twitter banner recently (possibly since the PS5 livestream announcement). First he changed it to Kratos so naturally everyone starts talking about the next God of War game. A day or 2 after that though he changed it to Bruce Banner from the Hulk tv show. Whether there is any hints to something in this or he is just messing with the people who constantly barrage his feed asking about the next GoW, who knows.
@BearsEatBeets I've been following Raf Grasseti on Instagram and Twitter, and he's been drawing a lot of realistic takes on certain Marvel characters as of late, specifically core Avengers and X-Men members. If the Cory Balrog Hulk thing is actually indicative of something in the works then I'll be super excited, although I feel as if that's just a coincidence. Spider-Man is so prolific on his own that Sony could probably toss all their eggs in that basket.
Balrog himself also said the duality of Hulk and Banner was a major inspiration for Kratos' arc in the new God of War so it's already a perfect fit.
@Octane I only say open world because I can't see Hulk working that well in a super linear setting. Being the Hulk is meant to feel liberating and I feel like the sense of scope and destruction can only really be captured with a sandbox game.
@TheFrenchiestFry yeah I'm not reading too much into it but it's fun to speculate. I actually think someone else is making the next God of War, someone who was next in command under Cory, and that he is making something else.
@BearsEatBeets Considering the way Cory wrote GOW, I think that's unlikely. It's his little baby, and the first game probably contains more references to future installments than we realise. I don't think he's abandoning all of that.
@Octane You may be right. I still think he is the main writer and will be involved. I can't remember the specifics but he was talking up someone else at the studio a while back as someone to keep an eye on. There were a few other things that made me think this but to be honest I can't remember now. I could have it back to front and this person is leading the other project. Or even more likely there is no other game and I'm completely wrong on all of it. It was just a gut feeling I had from reading/hearing a few things.
@TheFrenchiestFry@Octane As much as I'd love to see Hulk or any other Marvel character be given the Spider-Man 2018/God of War treatment, I would also prefer them being able to finish the God of War games on PS5.
I can't see this reboot series lasting more than 2 or 3 games surely, not counting potential spinoffs.
@KidBoruto I don't know if this particular iteration of Kratos is going to lend himself well to spinoff content
Unless they're planning another PS All Stars game somehow (although why would they if Smash is literally doing it for them), I can't see spinoffs coming out of this God of War series.

I wouldn't mind spinoffs if they were done right, ala Spider-Man: Miles Morales or Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
