I'm looking forward to seeing the Sonic Frontiers 2 announcement, and am hoping we get a little more Lara, either via a new Legacy of Atlantis trailer (with a release window, if not date) or a surprise update for the remasters. It's her birthday this weekend, after all.
Also, it's been long enough now, so maybe Metal Gear Master Collection Vol. 2 will get confirmed...?
My worry for the SoP yesterday was that they’d start very bland like they did last year with Monster Hunter Wilds as the opener - which was after who knows how many trailers.
But the Kena Sequel opener was very good. It took the pacing off to a strong start, very effective initiation. The capcom trailers, while nice, were what followed afterwards as it should be. And even then, PS users got demos to try now (I think Nintendo users got them after the Direct last week). I loved what I saw, and will buy it Day One if I can see that they figured out the combat.
The cap off was good too, but I’ll play devil’s advocate. I think they should have gone all out. If they had added Cory’s game at the very end, it would have been one of the best shows in gaming ever. A shadow drop followed by a big surprise - goodness that would have been perfect.
But nonetheless, very impactful presentation, I can’t believe how much more I have to look forward to this year.
@Werehog Oh to dream, dear Rog. If Vol 2 was to arrive I could truly begin to sunset the old PS3 for good 😊
Oh sheiße!! We got it 👍
That we did, my friend! Although I'll still be keeping my PS3 plugged in, at least it won't be for anything I can't play elsewhere, on another platform, should the worst happen.
@Bundersvessel I'll be sure to share my thoughts on Snake Eater when I get to it! I think I'm going to have to watch a recap of the first two games with them being so long ago, so I'll be able to get all the references I'd need to I might have forgotten. I know it starts the story of Big Boss (if we're not counting the Metal Gear games). I imagine it's largely separate due to that, but the thought of missing out on any story context despite having played the others still scares me!

@Werehog Perhaps it's time to put our weight behind... Mass Effect 5 reveal and shadow drop at Summer Game Fest everyone! You heard it here first, folks! (Come on, help me manifest it harder, Rog...)

Oh, good shout! Rest assured, I shall wear my "Big Stupid Jellyfish" t-shirt at every opportunity!

@Bundersvessel Funny you should mention the PS3's Splinter Cell games, as those are some of the platinums I'd like to at least attempt someday! Great minds!

I'll do my part as well! Just received two new N7 t-shirts as part of the grand prize package I won on N7 day last year. Unfortunately, the rest of the prize package got cancelled due to many issues with manufacturing, customs issues (from manufacturer to the US) and such, but they generously substituted the rest of it with a $300 US gift card for the Bioware Gear shop, which I am certain is quite a bit more than the total value of the items they couldn't provide.
@FuriousMachine Ah, that's disappointing to hear that the full package didn't work out! The gift card seems like an acceptable compromise, but I'm guessing the package included some limited edition stuff you can't just replace in the merch shop. I don't remember what exactly it was or if there as anything in particular you were hyped about, but I guess you'll just have to wipe your tears with the $300 worth of merch you'll eventually get shipped up there. What a horrible fate!
@Tjuz Yeah, those are the kinds of knocks this cruel life brings To be honest, there were a few items in the prize package that wasn't all that interesting and looks like all the items that were are available through the store. Only downside is that since that will count as a "purchase" rather than a "gift/prize", customs will add quite a hefty tax to it when it arrives. I don't mind, this is still a fantastic prize, though, but I am holding off ordering for a bit. Luckily, there is no expiration date on the voucher.
I will try to get as much swag as possible in time for Summer Game Fest to help with the manifesting, though
@FuriousMachine Well, I suppose you can just count the difference thanks to the taxes within the playing room you had for the gift card with more worth! Maybe hold off on 80 bucks with the gift card, so you can eventually get Mass Effect 5 for free when it comes out in roughly a decade! Assuming they sell the games in this Gear store, which I would think. I don't know. My rooms are too flavourless to pretend like I browse merch stores on a regular basis and know the ins and outs! You'll have to send a picture of whatever you were able to get your hands on when you do!
@FuriousMachine I join @Tjuz in wishing to see what you eventually snag with your voucher! Sorry to hear about all the problems with your original win, though. Good on 'em for making it up to you and not just fobbing you off with a token gesture. You can get what you actually want now!
Oh, and what's on the t-shirts? Along with my "Big Stupid Jellyfish" one, I have another that simply says, "I Should Go" across the chest, written in the game's title font. Gags only a fan would recognise!
