@Oram77 Yeah, the algorithms can be insidious like that. And things like that have a tendency to burn itself into the retinas before one can look away and, hey presto, spoiled!
I will stay strong! It's now only... what, still over 24 hours? I'll never make it
If I do make it, though, I will also attempt to lower my expectations a bit, too. Better to be pleasantly surprised from low expectations than disappointed from way too high.
@Th3solution I know you are meming... at least I hope you are , but actually the "leak" looked quite reasonable, still in the realm of too good to be true, but once the SoP has finished I may post the "leak" and show how close it got.

Happy State of Play day folks.
Fingers crossed for a good varied show (ie not a 30 minute deep dive of Marathon), I’m hopeful for some VR content.
Perhaps a trailer for MS FS 2024 VR and a release date, confirmation that RE9 VR is coming (yes I’m still holding out) and a trailer and release date for Light No Fire (with VR support added later).
@CaptD I respect your dedication to PSVR. I never ended up getting into it, but I can see the allure. The a small dedicated fanbase for VR, but as a whole it’s seem to be hanging on for dear life. Is there really hope for much new content to come out for it? I get the impression that Sony has abandoned it. What are your predictions for its future? At $400 it’s still outside of my range to take a fly on it.

@Th3solution
I do agree that Sony sort of abandoned PSVR2 but I think behind the scenes there is more to it than that, they clearly paid for RE additions and Hitman plus highly likely Flight Simulator. Plus many other projects like Synapse.
But yes their first party support has been shocking and I didn’t buy the headset till a year in as I was disgusted more so by the lack of PSVR1 ports than new titles tbh.
VR2 had a great 2025 and 2026 is looking really good so far but tbh the reason I go on about what I’m excited for is because I know the flat games will be the usual fair and the possibilities for something left field in the VR space is simply more exciting, for example I literally jumped off the sofa when Hitman was announced a year or so back and I rarely do that for any flat game as, well it was expected.

Take it easy mate, you ain’t getting any younger 😉
As for this State of Play, I’ll watch it as I always do but any expectations I have are at a bare minimum. After that supposed Showcase from 2 or 3 years back, I actively refuse to get excited… and it’s really helped me take the subsequent SoP’s for what they are and no more. I’m expecting Marathon and a fair amount of 3rd party fare… and maybe some Saros but in all honesty I’d imagine that will be the focus of the next SoP prior to its release.
@graymamba
Very wise especially as some of us are still suffering from Deathloop trailer fatigue but I think I agree with @Oram77 that the length of the show gives us a bit more Hope than usual (famous last words) plus the showing of Horizon before the show makes me feel that the quality will be there.
But at the end of the day you can’t beat a Sony showcase, I miss the flute guy. 😂
Yeah that one was a big dissapointment really. I don't have the same passion for PS since Days Gone PC port announcement(that one was the realization of "Oh, we will never go back to old days again" after many considered Horizon 1 port a one time thing) and 2023 showcase made me realize "Never get hyped again."
I can say that both were freeing since after Days Gone port I reconsider the passion I have PS and got less annoyed by them in time related to things I don't approve and because of 2023 showcase I always expect mediocrity and sometime I got better than that which feels good.
@CaptD flute guy is at every Game Awards show… go check him from the 2025 show when the music from all the best game noms are being played, he’s literally playing a drastically differed instrument every time they cut back to him (and they know exactly what they’re doing so they cut back a lot 🤣).
@CaptD Honestly I really miss the E3 era, yes it was extremely cringy and awkward but that just add to the charm for me, and of course Sony's 2016 E3 is iconic!
I thought flute guy was with The game awards? would be amazing if they did have him on for show cases though lol.

@Scottyy I’m still happy using the PlayStation platform tbh. Like a lot of people the live service pivot (and how that has impacted first party output etc.) is a big issue for me… but apart from that, it’s still the only platform which appeals to me personally. I’m also pretty happy with this gen as a whole (live service first party pivot is my one real gripe)… I’ve never had so many games, most of which I’m really looking forward to play too. The Showcases and State of Plays… well, they’re just a side-effect of my one true gripe tbh.
I %100 there with you. I am happy with my PS5 Pro and the gen mostly and my biggest gripe is less 1st party stuff than I want which some people got bored but I keep crave: 3rd person cinematic action adventures.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Sonic Frontiers 2 announcement, and am hoping we get a little more Lara, either via a new Legacy of Atlantis trailer (with a release window, if not date) or a surprise update for the remasters. It's her birthday this weekend, after all.
Also, it's been long enough now, so maybe Metal Gear Master Collection Vol. 2 will get confirmed...?

@Scottyy I’m just this minute setting my Pro up tbh (just fitted the disk drive). I had it for Christmas but Gears of War: Reloaded (& the frankly ridiculous multiplayer trophy grind) has neutered my gaming mojo of late. I’m hoping that finally getting the Pro out’ve the box might help clear up my funk.
