Topic: Controller failure already!

My Dualsense has failed on me today, R2 has become super slack, to the point where if you blow hard on it it moves, it's made playing shooters etc impossible. I've also had an issue with both of my sticks having a slight click when you move them left or right.

After spending 90 minutes (!!) in a phone queue to speak to somebody at Sony (Amazon wanted the whole console back!), they've offered to replace it with a new controller, but I have to send it back to them first, which does mean no PS5 gaming for the next two to three weeks. Thankfully I can use the DS4 for PS4 games.

Looking at Reddit, this seems an alarmingly common issue, with a failing spring being the cause. Either there's a bad batch of controllers out there with a faulty component, or there's a serious design flaw related to the dynamic trigger and the spring. Either way - it's not good.

Have any of you guys had a similar issue? It's definitely frustrating.

Yep. Exactly the same issue (R2). Sending it back on Monday.

Also, I wouldn't begrudge them for taking so long to answer. If you're on hold, it does mean you're in a queue. It's probably hectic over there. I'm on my second PS5, and soon to be second controller. I'm not pleased about having to send them both back, but I can't fault their UK customer service.

I'm thinking it's a bad batch. My PS5 was extremely loud and it wasn't the fan. My new one is thankfully fine. As for the controller, it's not likely to be a design flaw, hardware nowadays is stress tested for a lengthly time. It wouldn't have made it through. And especially true coming from Japan - through all the Playstation anti Japan sentiment that is being thrown about, the hardware is still designed in Japan and by Japanese people (and Mark Cerny lol).
