Topic: Cairn

Just made it through a particularly rough climb in Cairn. Day 13, blacked out twice and tanked through the section using every item at my disposal, no pitons, with wind and rain pounding down on me, barely about to see through the darkness and fog. Rarely does a game feel as intense as this one, making the player utilize every mechanic in hopes of making progress. As someone quite jaded towards the passive, derivative action games that so many studios pump out, here is something really special that I feel will be discussed amongst the people that experienced it for years to come. You actually feel like the character, alone, beat up (emotionally) and striving for the peak. Writing is hit and miss, which would be a dealbreaker if the game was only about the story but thankfully it doesn’t affect the experience too much.
