Blacksad: Under the Skin

I persevered because I love the comics and the plot of the game is on par with those (perhaps even better?...blasphemy!). The art, animation and voice acting are all excellent too. But my gosh is it buggy, packed with obtuse level design and just a general all-round chore to play. No regrets though, but I'd recommend watching it on youtube instead.

Red Dead Redemption is absolutely at the top of my list in this category. I didn't originally have much interest in it, but I kept hearing how much other people liked it, so when I found it on clearance for about $15, I decided to give it a try.

And it was what I expected it to be. Slow, boring, and with controls that were both frustrating and limited. But I kept with it, expecting it to get better, because so many other people had liked it. But the story was dull, the characters were mostly unlikable, and there really wasn't much of a way to level up the character, gain new skills, better equipment, ect. But I kept plugging away, hoping that at some point the game would open up and become something more....but it never did. I think I gave up after putting 40-50 hours in, gave the game to someone else that I knew, and never looked back.

@LieutenantFatman What are some notable favorite films and books you've re-watched and re-read? I've read Heart of Darkness at least three times.

I read The Hobbit three times when I was younger, probably will again some day. And I read Night Watch by Terry Pratchett a couple of time as well. Both exciting fantasy adventures I can get really stuck into. The authors have a talent for making you feel like you're there.

Managed to convince my wife that some classic science fiction films are essential watching. So we watched films such as Alien, Aliens, Fifth Element, Star Wars, Ghostbusters, etc. Fun to watch these things with someone who's never seen them before. Definitely adds to the enjoyment, I think.

And of course a really good comedy is always tempting to revisit. I think I'll have to read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy again soon.

@LieutenantFatman I loved the Fifth Element and those other films you mentioned when I first saw them, did you ever see Existenz? A very appropriate film for this forum, I feel.
