Obviously the officially licensed ones (Gold and Platinum) were received well in reviews. Both are wireless and support virtual surround sound as well as 3D Audio integration.
The general consensus was at $99.99 USD for the Gold and $159.99 for the Platinum, they are not top of the line by any means but a good deal for the tech they have and hard to find an equivalent headset at a similar price. A good jumping in point in other words.
In my experience with both, the Platinum doesn't give you enough to justify the extra $60.00. I cannot find any meaningful difference in sound quality after a year of trying, but I'm not an audiophile by any means.
Negative points of the Gold Headset were a weak hinge folding mechanism that broke easily if you weren't careful and both look somewhat goofy and obtuse when worn. Both are comfortable for long play sessions though. Just be gentle with the Gold headset, I've had mine for 3+ years with no issues.
