@get2sammyb that thor scene was awsome.
it will be a long wait i'm sure.

with that being said i hope that mimir will return in the next game aswell,he's a great lore teller and comedic relief!
also what did you think of that wall prophecy depicting kratos and athreus dying by some unknown enemy? it was just a couple of seconds visible and easy to miss.

jdv95

jdv95

@get2sammyb i think that when that happens they will pull some of that realm altering time stuff.

that way the devs will always have a tool to prevent them from dying.

with how it was presented in the game,i think that time itself will have a major role in the next game.

@get2sammyb
i'm guessing it's atreus.
since he is revealed to be loki (the father of the world serpent) the serpent has traveled to the past.
(the setting of the game).

it could be an intresting concept but they will have to be carefull to not make things to complicated. time travel/realm travel has always been a difficult story element to pull off without the player getting lost on what is all happening.

The game does open up the possibility of DLC in the meantime. There are several Realms that are not accessible at this point in time so could offer options for additional content although I do hope they are more 'story' based than just combat arenas for grinding resources like the two optional areas we opened up through the Cipher chests. I want them to be more like Alfheim too rather than Helheim as that was pretty boring. Alfheim could have had more around the lake too of course - more like Midgard with more regions.

The ending was interesting and sets up a sequel but I was a little disappointed that Atreus was also Loki. The story also seemed to indicate that Kratos was Tyr too and that the Gods are not limited to one zone and could well be called by different names in different areas. The Lore board with Tyr crossing for example had Kratos' 'Omega' symbol as well as a Eye of Horus - all Gods of War. Also in Tyr's Temple we saw a Greek jug and a Scarab beetle. At least the mythology was more in keeping with the traditional rather than the 'Marvel' universe where Loki was the brother of Thor.

As for the 'final' picture of the death of Kratos and his Son - did you notice that Atreus has the World Serpent apparently coming from his mouth. I don't know that they could kill Kratos and let Atreus/Loki become the main focus - after all Kratos IS the God of War and it wouldn't be God of War without a God of War as the main Protagonist.

I have seen some comments mentioning a 'New Game +' mode but I don't know how that would or could work. If you already have the blue bow, chisel and Chaos Blades, it does make chunks of the story redundant and opens up paths you can't open. If you have the Blue bow for example, you don't need to go to Alfheim to get the light and can access the Realm control room as soon as you get to Midgard. You also wouldn't need to go Thamur's Corpse for the chisel either.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

@BAMozzy it was a shame that we did not get to go to asgard.
altough that is obviously a set up for the next game.

as for the symbols you mentioned, the eye of horus could be a early forshadowing to an egypt setting. cory did mention that they where open to the idea of making a god of war game in the egyptian and mayan mythology.

as for how the giants knew what would happen to kratos and atreus,i think that this game takes place in the past (the world serpent can't be born yet but he is already here) and the giants somehow traveled to the past, wrote down the wall prophecy to help kratos and atreus. meaning that the giants actually come from the future. don't know if that would make sense though so i might be wrong.

also did anyone else nothice the wall depicting a fight between kratos, atreus and the world serpent? i thought it was that dragon at first.

@get2sammyb I wouldn't be surprised - it does say that those realms are not available and does open up the potential for DLC. Most of the layout must be done as they are quite uniform bridges with the 'horn' circle but obviously they have differing environments. I hope they do more though than Muspelheim and Niflheim as these are limited. Loved Muspelheims aesthetic in HDR as the lava really stood out against the Black rock but its just a single path with Arenas along it. Niflheim too wasn't particularly attractive compared to the Alfheim and I did get bored of running the loop for Mist to unlock the Realm Tears to get the trophy. At least these had more than Jotunheim to do. Alfheim could be a good template for DLC although I would hope it has more than just two coves and the temple - could open up to be an area like Midgard with a couple of decent regions and mines to explore - as well as additional dwarf quests along with a reasonable 'story' extension.

I don't know when 'too soon' to discuss an article like that would be - after all the game isn't even a week old yet. If they do announce something at E3, then at least you can't be accused of spoiling it if you discuss it then.

@BAMozzy if they do a Alfheim expansion,it should focus on the war between the light and dark elves.
that dark elf king said that what we did was a big mistake and i think it would lead up to some events yet to happen.

Is this where to go for God of War spoilers? Its not entirely clear from the topic title.

@jdv95 I wasn't on about doing an expansion set in Alfheim but I was referring to the area of Alfheim as the other realms are really quite small and boring. Heflheim has a bit more to it but its still quite a straight path and the two you open up with Cipher chests are nothing more than 'combat' arenas for grinding resources. Muspelheim is literally 1 path with 6 arenas along it and Niflheim is a 'circle' of arenas and that's it. Alfheim at least has the bridge that then opens up into a river and then lake with two coves to explore. If they used that as a template, crossed with Midgard for the other realms, with different things to explore off of a lake - like the (Shores of the Nine), regions (like Veithurgard and Thamur's Corpse), maybe even a mine or two as well. Point is an expanded Alfheim type area for the Realms that we cannot and have not accessed yet offers potential DLC material - much more than yet another Niflheim or Muspelheim.

I couldn't care less about the 'Elves' battle as it had very little to do with the God of War and had been ongoing for centuries before Kratos arrived.

SSM's did a great job in keeping so much details under lock and key. I certainly didn't see Atreus been Loki coming but the clues were there (the serpent recognising him and his first question when finding out he's a god "can I turn into a animal".
And who knew that the blades of chaos would not only return but actually be a fully formed weapon with its own skill trees.
I hope Cory Barlog stays on (he recently said he wants to make a new IP next) cos he left so much there for sequel that it would be a shame if he didn't do it.
I can see this been a two part story with the sequel been about Ragnarok and facing Thor and Odin, probably a PS5 game in about 2021 then SSM can try for a new IP again, after all we only got this GoW cos their Sci Fi game Darkside was in development hell.

When Kratos left Mimir to the dwarves I imagined that the next time the head would have been put on a mechanical body lol
I was actually surprised seeing that he was just a head still when Kratis took him back

About the time travels, Mimir actually say that the serpent in faxt comes from the future and has been sent back in time during a fight.

And also I have read a theory which says that

Kratos probably is going to become Tyr and travel back in time and to many other countries too

and it seem to be very convincing in my opinion.

One thing I just don't understand is the behaviour of Baldur. I have read that he should pursue a way to avoid Ragnarok and he hopes that the mother of Atreus could give him a way to prevent it gathering information about it thanks to the giant's premonitions, but he behaves just like his only goal is to kill Kratos and Atreus. Why he behaves like this and is always mad at Kratos and Atreus if his goal is to obtain infor!ationdps about the Ragnarok???

I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee

@KratosMD CONGRATULATIONS!!

It took me 50-60hours to get everything done too - although I could still grind more in Muspelheim or Niflheim for resources to buy and/or fully upgrade all the 'best' armour in the game but unless they do add any DLC, I won't bother.

50-60hours isn't bad - H:ZD took me 75 hours to get the Platinum but games like Assassins Creed: Origins and Witcher 3 were over 100hours and I didn't get the Platinum in those. Blood and Wine - if you do everything - takes well over 30hours and that's just DLC. Before you think I am being critical that the game is 'only' 50-60hours, I am not. I am merely pointing out that an 8hour game these days is rather short and not in keeping with the current climate. Its great that they didn't settle for another 8/10hour campaign.

Anyway, glad you finally got there and enjoyed it too.

@KratosMD I thought that was going to be what happened once you flipped the temple. I thought once it was flipped you'd just be on the ceiling of the room and be able to walk through any door into any of the realms, it's a shame it wasn't like that.

Has anyone else noticed the drawing from the end of the game that are on the walls are also on the rocks you throw at the stranger at the start of the game? Also has anyone got the special in game item that can be found by using the map that came with the collectors edition? I've heard it's a special axe handle.

What are your thoughts about the endgame?
I really enjoyed the game to the fullest, found the main campaign almost perfectly designed and crafted.
I'm stilled wowed by the overall polish and attention to detail.
The extensive optional content and exploration really blended in nicely and enriched the overall experience.
Presentation and mechanics are top notch and I'm so much impressed how they managed to put in almost any of the series traits, despite the rather drastic changes to camera, narrative and structure.
Really, midair combos and due to that, Harpy style foes, seem to be the only noticeable omission.
And I even feel like the 1st completion of Niflheim and Muspelheim are a very natural continuation of that brilliant design.
Although grindy and a tad frustrating to begin with, eventually it provides the tools and skill-honing to finally beat Sigrun (at least it did for me).
So exactly the training Kratos wants for the boy and as such perfectly in line with the rest.

But afterwards I can't help but wonder about the redundancy of many things...
After 100% completion (except Silver and Gold for 'Against The Wall' Labour), several additional Niflheim runs and multiple completion of each of Surtrs Trials (except Untouchable Impossible, which I only did once), I amassed:
almost 350k XP
2.4k Enchanted Dust
almost 300 Dust of Realms
200+ World Serpent Scales
200+ World Seprent Scale Fragments
almost 40 Crests of Flames
5 Epic Blade Pommels
All of which appear more or less obsolete, but I can't sell or transform them, while I still have to farm for Hacksilver and Greater Fire Crests and Crests of Surtr to buy or upgrade gear.
Makes me wonder, if the endgame wasn't originally designed to sell these for real cash or (looking at how some of the top tier gear is clipping) maybe it's just a lack of polish and only so noticeable because the rest is nearly flawless...

@Simon_Fitzgerald
No, didn't noticed that drawings in the beginning... almost makes me consider to start a new game...
Though I did notice some runes in the Jotunheim wallmarkings beside a depitction of Kratos and Atreus.
The one for Atreus, if I remember correctly, says Loki, while the one for Kratos I didn't recognize, but if my memory serves me right, it's almost certainly not Tyr.
Hence I'm sceptical regarding that Kratos becomes Tyr theory.
But what do I know, that Loki twist sure caught me by surprise (an interesting, pleaseant one, that is).
Atreus being Loki, the killing of Baldur and the Serpent coming from the future appear to be fitting and well thought for starting a Ragnarök Trilogy.
If my memory doesn't fail me, the death of Baldur is sort of a prelude for the coming of Ragnarök and Loki and some giant lady later spawn the world serpent, the Fenris-wolf and a third of the so-called 3 world-fiends, though I forgot anything about that last one and that fem-giant...

Sorry bout this wall of text and sorry if my English is a bit off, too.
