There is one of these threads over on NL and I discovered some actual good and reasonable deals that I wanted to share.

They either match the PS store or are better in some cases but check out the Argos, Smyth Toys and Curry's PC World websites

The main PlayStation hits like Uncharted, gran turismo and God of war etc are around £6.99-7.99

Death Stranding is £14.99

Iron Man VR £19.99

Mafia Trilogy £29.99

Crash 4 £36.99 (not mega cheap but better than other places)

The stock for delivery on these sites seems to depend on availability in their local stores/warehouses

But yeah, I thought I'd share because they seem quite cheap compared to the prices I normally see them at! I'm really tempted by some of these but I'm more or less broke at the moment so I don't know if I should go for some knowing that I'll probably screw myself over in the coming months 🤦🏻‍♂️

Feel free to use this thread to post good deals if you find them or let it fade into obscurity or just have it locked and deleted because it might be a duplicate (I did search the forum but came up with nothing, hence the new thread!)

See ya!

Thanks for the advice! I wish I had something to share with you. Maybe someone has some discount coupons lying around?

No doubt your comment is helpful. I will take advantage of your suggestion. During the quarantine, I tried to buy all things only at discounted prices. Only forums like this where the good guys share their finds help me out. I think everyone is sick and tired of this pandemic, and so I. I have one question: when will it all end? People are tired. Many people have lost their jobs because of the quarantine, hundreds of companies have the forced to close. People have serious financial problems, and no one is going to solve them. Especially since with today's food prices, you have to survive, not live. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't had promo codes from DontPayFull. Only buying things at discounts keeps me from going out and sleeping in a cardboard box.

Apparently some stores here in Sweden will be putting up Black Friday deals as early as tomorrow evening. It's so weird that BF is constantly getting pushed forward ever year. Last year it was the entire week and now it's starting the week before.

Anyway, I just looked up some deals for tomorrow and one of them is the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remake on PS4 for only €10. I'm not a fan of skateboarding games at all but at that price I think it's fair to give it a shot, especially considering these are the most beloved games in the series based on my understanding.

It was my annual Black Friday PS+ top-up and Guardians of the Galaxy for me in the sale.

I still can't believe that game is already reduced in price!

@Thrillho I haven't been following Guardians of the Galaxy at all, I just remember seeing it so much at showcases and being tired of seeing it everywhere, lol. I thought it was going to be as underwhelming as Marvel's Avengers, but it seems like it's actually a good game! And it's roughly 50% off right now. I'm so tempted to get it but I bought so many games on Friday that I shouldn't be buying more now.

I also saw that Far Cry 6 and Resident Evil 8 have been reduced to €30-35, which are also very tempting. And while the game isn't on sale, I saw that some stores are selling physical PS4 copies of Disco Elysium for roughly €30. There are so many good games on sale but I don't want to spend too much money right now. Especially when the prices of some of these games might be reduced even more within a year, particularly Far Cry 6 as Ubisoft games tend to fall to €20 rather fast.

@LtSarge @Thrillho Yeah, I can’t believe Guardians has been discounted so shortly after release. The game has barely been out a couple weeks. Same thing with Deathloop. It seems to be a turn of events lately with the Sony first party games holding their value longer than the third party stuff. Nevertheless, I’m thinking GotG is going to be back to $60 after BF and we won’t see a permanent drop in price for a while. Really thinking about getting it also. I’m scouring the physical sales too. Fortunately GameStop here in the States does price matching.

LtSarge

@Th3solution The thing that annoys me is that I'll most likely not play these games anytime soon as I'm focusing on my backlog. So if I buy them now, they might get discounted even more in a year or so and at that time I might have still not played them and as a result I'll have experienced a sunk cost. I tend to be good at avoiding that, but lately I've noticed that I've experienced numerous sunk costs with games such as The Last of Us Part II (which is €10, I bought it at €30), Yakuza: Like A Dragon (€20 now, bought at €30) and Ubisoft games like AC: Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion, all of which I still haven't played yet. I can guarantee the same thing will happen if I buy GotG lol. I'm just so weak-willed.

LtSarge

Kidfried

@LtSarge Yea, that's the reason I actually stopped chasing deals and building up an enormous backlog like that. My new technique is not look far ahead anymore and only buy games I'll be playing next. Found out I'm hardly spending much more on games on a month-to-month basis and I feel less forced to play a certain game, not because I want it, but because I've been having it so long.

But also I've just been trying very hard to look for an excuse not to have to keep track of all the different deals!

Kidfried

LtSarge

@Kidfried That's definitely a good approach. The problem for me is that we're in a transitional period right now from PS4 to PS5 and as such, there will be less PS4 copies to get hold of as companies focus more on PS5. That's why I'm always so nervous to miss out on PS4 deals as these games might not get restocked in the future and I'm not planning on buying a next-gen system anytime soon.

It's like this for me: the games could get cheaper in the future, but they could also get out of stock and be harder to find, so should I buy them now at a cheap price while I can or risk either missing out on them or having to buy them at a much higher price. If this were any other year with PS4, I would've obviously just waited. But there are more factors to consider now.

A good thing from all of this though is that I will per automatic buy fewer games every year from here on out because more games are becoming next-gen exclusives and so I won't be buying them (for now).

Th3solution

@LtSarge It’s a tough balance, for sure. I’ve been a little better at not contributing to a large backlog and am trying to be more tactical in my purchases.

From time to time I regret not taking advantage of a sale price though. I’m finding it depends on the game and how old it is or how popular it is. So I think I might pull the trigger on Guardians of the Galaxy and Demon’s Souls. Both are games I can see myself playing in the next year and I suspect the BF prices are the low point for the next 9-12 months, but that’s always a gamble. There have been times when I am ready to start a new game and thought, “Man, I’m really in the mood to play ‘Game X’ right now” and I don’t own it so I look to buy it and and it’s $70 or $60 but was on sale for $40 a few weeks prior. So I wait. Then another sale rolls around and I think, “I missed the last sale, but I’m busy with another game now so I’ll pass since I’m not going to play it right away” then I miss an opportunity again and the price goes back up. And the next time I am in the mood or have the time to play it I’m out of luck. This is basically what has happened with Demon’s Souls for me. I’ve had a couple times this past year that if I owned it I would have played it, but it was always $70 at the time and I keep waiting for a permanent price drop which doesn’t appear to be coming.

psprices.com is a good way to see if the price is on the low historical end since it shows a graph of the price history, and if the price is frequently cut, indicating it’s soon to be permanently decreased. So I’ll sometimes look there when trying to decide whether it’s a good time to buy.

Also by buying physical when possible I feel like I’ve got a little invested equity in something that I can recoup some of the cost back by reselling if I want. That makes me less reluctant to pull the trigger if the price is right.

So due to BF prices and price matching at the GameStop, as well as having store credit, I’m looking at getting Demon’s Souls for about $32. If I were to sell it back I think I could recover close to $20, assuming value maintains and I don’t want to keep it for my collection (which I’ll probably want to keep it due to replay value). A net of $12 for a PS5 game is a pretty good deal and hard to pass up when I could have bought it digitally for $70 a week ago and not have the option to resell.

Thrillho

@Jemusu The NG+ trophy is really easy to get as the main story is fairly short but it’s well worth playing on PS5 as it’s a very pretty game and Insomniac have some sort of cheat mode with their “performance RT” mode giving 60fps and ray tracing.

There's been some great sales on this week and kind of making a mockery of Sony's £70 pricing.

@JohnnyShoulder Thanks for this, buddy. I saw that Avengers hit the same price on Amazon, but seeing how hollow the Spidey update seems to be was a timely reminder of what I'd actually be getting myself into, whatever the cost. So I'm sitting on my hands (which has made typing this a challenge).

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition at thirty quid is a steal, for fans and newcomers alike.
