I'm thinking about changing up my media unit and am struggling to find reliable information regarding how much ventilation is required to avoid overheating my Pro.
I currently use one of those generic glass monstrosities you can get anywhere; it's good as there are no closed sides but I want to build something mid century inspired, probably upcycling a few cubed storage units from ikea or b&q. The trouble is the depth is too shallow- I could get around that by opening up the back but I'm not sure about the sides.
So what do you use to house your beloved ps4? And how much ventilation do you give it?
@Mergatro1d That's a bit of a tough one really as you've got to factor in ambient temperature (that invariably changes with the seasons/central heating/number of people in the room/length of play) and how much dust you've got in the fans (which will increase over time) and airflow in the room in question and more. Plus it could for all intents and purposes run fine in a specific space, but reduce the life of the machine over giving it a bit extra space to breathe.
I'm pretty sure it's a "BESTÅ" I have mine in, with no front or back door. There is a small window behind it so if I notice it getting hot in the room I open that window and another somewhere to create a breeze.
@kyleforrester87 Yeah these are all the thoughts going round my head too. At the moment I've got tons of room but an ugly tv stand. Better that than a melted ps4 though 😂
@Mega-Gazz thanks, that's the kind of thing I'm looking to build. So I guess you just didn't attach the back part when you put it together? Also, do you have a base ps4 or the pro (just to get a sense of the dimensions)?
