You guys really need to calm down and look at this from all angles instead of "it's motion controls quickly shut it down...", "hardcore" gamer perspective. The Eye will be included with PS4 since Microsoft is doing the same thing. Remember the PS4 is an "ALL" gamers console, that also includes the casual gamers. Sony is doing the same preemptive strike Microsoft is doing. The Eye is gonna be included so they don't excluded the casual gamer market right from the get go, that and if it's there from the beginning people are just gonna get accustomed to it being there. You know like the analog sticks or the rumble feature that many people said were stupid ideas and gimmicks, which both are now looked at as requirements and stupid if not included into a modern controller. This abundance of stupidity that "The Eye and Kinect is gonna invade our privacy by recording us..." is ridiculous. I have a webcam that came pre installed to my pc monitor and I constantly put the computer on Sleep. Does this mean it records me when it is in sleep mode???? See how stupid that question sounds? I highly doubt that the Kinect and The Eye will not come with the ability to go in menu and shut off it functions till notify otherwise (like the speech text with Win 7). The price will be the same/little change(like $25~$50) no matter what it just means less/more of a loss on Sony's end. Motion controls aren't gonna replace the reliability of a controller hence they would have a made a Move-centric control instead of adding a TOUCHPAD. The commercial everyone is referring to(highlighting the Dualshock 4) is meant for single sale use, aka buying a new controller or bundle that comes the eye if your own broke from a fall or something. Take a chill pill, ease up with the testosterone boosters and switch to decaf, so far Sony has been going right by all types of gamers. They not just gonna take a left and put up a F U like the Lobo Super in Injustice.
I'm not playing video games with devices that are basically 'watching' me do so. There's no reason something like that has to be built into the machine. Not that I'd do anything that would get me in trouble (the most I do is flick off the tv when I get pissed at something that happens in game) but just the fact that some kind of device like this exists and is forced upon me, bothers me. If you feel otherwise, great, I'm not buying the Xbox One for the fact I wouldn't feel comfortable with it in my house and the same goes for PS4 if Sony goes down a similar path. Now, if the PS Eye is a separate attachment and I can unhook it and not have to be bothered with it at all, then I'm fine with it being bundled in with the system.
This is why I say this thought process is stupid. Cellphones have front facing cameras, Computers/Laptops now come pre installed with a webcam, for god sakes a VITA has a front facing camera, these are major places, other than a home videogame console, that can "record" you while you play games on it. Now all of sudden because the PS4 might ship with the Eye you are gonna feel insecure? I am sorry but this is kind statement is asinine. There laws that forbid them from do this to you without your consent and with Sony's "We are for gamers" statement/aura surrounding them and lifting them up, I highly doubt they are just gonna piss off their fans with something as easy as turning off the camera's abilities when plug into the console. "Hardcore" gamers are so quick to say NO to the first that shows anything with the potential to do something they dislike without looking through the border of potential it can do.

That's such an odd old man yelling at clouds statement to have in 2013. I mean looking around the rom 'm in I can point too at least five devices with cameras that on most of the time. (Two smartphones, 3DS, Laptop, Tablet)
WAT!
Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.
I frankly don't think that the PS Eye will be spying us if it need to be always connected. I really don't care if a camera sits there, looks and me and does nothing. I will probably be more concerned about it breaking and therefore making the PS4 not work if it's always on, espcially if my warrenty has exprired. I'm not sure it even really contains the tech to spy on it's own and I doubt Sony wants to personally watch us in out livin rooms 27/7 to spy on us. I really don't think there will be big brother issuges if it needs to be alway connected. I see it being advised more than requried to keep it connected unless a lot of games use it.
Unlike the Kinect, The PSEye deos not have to be connected to the Ps4 to utilise your games console. Therefore if it bothers anyone that the camera may be spying on them while they go about thier daily routines....just unplug it
