Hey! Mine started doing this yesterday, actually...it just randomly turns on, ejects the disc, and then makes this sort of...whirring noise. It did it last night while I was asleep and was still on and making the noise this morning. Does that sound like the same thing you're experiencing?
I've actually had this issue before, and I had to send my PS4 away to be replaced...Sony were very courteous about it, and sent me a new one free of charge with a controller and everything, so that was good. I've emailed them about the issue today and I'll let you know if they offer an alternative solution when they get back to me.
Mine did this for a while, back in the earlier months of its life. It woke me up a couple of times in the middle of the night, beeping and ejecting the disc. I was under the impression that this issue had been sorted out by system updates, because I haven't had it happen again for a long time. Is your firmware up to date?
If your warranty is still valid, then just send it back and get a replacement, it's not going to stop.
Mine was doing it on and off for ages, and then recently wouldn't seem to stop.
If your warranty has expired then I would suggest this:
It's the only permanent fix, and you'll need a Torx T9 security screwdriver (I got one on amazon pretty cheap).
It voids your warranty, but mine wasn't valid anymore so it's saved me a load of money repairing it, and it hasn't done it since.
It's gremlins in the systems! It's said to be a pretty common issue with the system, something that can easily be fixed...PLATEFACE had the best method for doing so. Don't forget that ever companies machines have problems...My New 3DS had the cartridge spring break not even four-months into it's lifetime...of course the warranty expired and nintendo wanted to charge $80 to fix and the cost of sending it out...not worth it. My PS3 (old one) had a disc get stuck and wouldn't come out...had to send it off to Sony. My 360's (I went through 2 before getting rid of them) did a lot of weird things like not connecting to the internet, deleting files and games, then erasing my avatar completely and then erasing the whole account (almost like a virus came into the systems). Most companies are good at repairing the problem though, so even if the videos can't help you out, just call and talk to a Sony Repair Technician, and they could help you fix the problem yourself, instead of sending out your machine with more expense and not having it for a while.
I had the exact same problem , my ps4 would turn on by itself and then eject the disc at random moments. I took my ps4 back to the shop and it got replaced since they said they couldn't fix it.
