@KratosMD you can use up to a 8TB External HDD, that's a lot of room, has to be a USB 3.0 drive though

I was going to upgrade my internal HDD this weekend. Guess I will hold off now.

It's awesome that it's finally coming. I've been meaning to upgrade my PS4's internal drive for a long time, but just plugging in an external drive is much less hassle. I'm pretty desperate for more space; I've held off from buying games with huge install sizes because I don't have room, and I occasionally have to delete a bunch of stuff to make way for new games.

It's pretty amazing, actually, to think that last generation I got by on 160GB (I upgraded my 60GB launch PS3) and now we frown at anything less than 1 or 2TB. Technology - and games - move ridiculously quickly!

@booshy89 i would imagine so but i'm sure more info will become available once the update drops

@booshy89 Yeah bt you probably won't be able to access them unless they have the game as well so why would you take it over to their place?

@Tasuki @booshy89 If he signed into his PSN account on his friend's console, wouldn't that give him access to his games? It would be pretty cool if this is possible.

@F-racsO only if he was using the other persons profile, gamesharing only works if the the PS4 is set as the primary one also if his account is on another system and it's being used as soon as he signs in on his main PS4 the other is automatically signed out

@booshy89 I would imagine you would have to sign into your profile on your friends PS4. Physical games would still require you to take the disc anyway but I assume it would be a lot easier than having to install your games on his PS4 to play.

If you upgrade to a Pro or have , it should be a LOT easier to transfer your library of games to the new console and if you keep your PS4, you can move the HDD between the two consoles if you have them set-up in different rooms (like I have).

Obviously the biggest benefit is increased storage capacity. I filled my PS4's 500GB in 8 months and ended up not buying games for my PS4 if I could buy them on XB1 so for me this is great. Sales could be bad for my bank balance though as in the past I opted not to buy because the games on my HDD were games I wanted to keep (not delete) at that point so buying the game was almost pointless. Its very liberating... LOL

I shall probably get this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/433/Seagate-Expansion-Desktop-inch... which is the newer model of the one I have for my XB1.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

Nice one. I know it's been asked for a lot but it's never really been anything I'd been that desperate for. That said, now that's it's coming, I think I'll invest in a big external drive so I can just keep everything installed.

@booshy89 the update isn't live yet like @Tasuki said, unless you're in the beta. Once it's live I'll try it as well. If it works I'll have to put all my games with couch co-op in an external HDD.

do we know the date when the new update goes live for the muggles not in the magic beta circle??

FullbringIchigo

@unionjack3rd not yet but i don't imagine it will be too long after the Beta, it isn't normally

Finally! It's baffling they haven't done it before. Don't need it yet, but when I do this will be a Godsend.

@booshy89 OK i don't know if you can or not in case your under a NDA but can you give us some info about the type of drives you can use, do they need to be self powered for example

So when is this update suppose to happen? I was hoping it was this week but it looks like it's not. At least when will we get more info on what harddrives we can use? Seriously Sony I am running out of room on my stock HDD.

Yeah, I can be patient and wait a bit more, but I would like to know what brands, etc, are compatible. I have a Western Digital My Book 2TB hooked up to my Xbox One. I'd like to be able to get a 4TB one for the PS4.
