I very much enjoyed Doom.. and Dark Souls 3.. and Uncharted 4. All very good and well worth playing.
But for me, Xcom 2 is the runaway winner at the moment. Loving it.

A lot of my potential GOTYs are on PS4 anyway. My main ones would be:

• Dark Souls III
• DOOM
• Ratchet & Clank

I still need to give Inside and Uncharted 4 a go, and if the port of Stardew Valley is good then that would definitely be on there. I would've put XCOM 2 on there, as it's a great game, but it runs like sh*t on PS4.

Thumper (for the intoxicating and utterly fast rhytm violence, especially in VR) and Uncharted 4 (state of the art and mindblowingly lovely).

I like to pick games that pave the way in the industry and act as benchmarks. Huge uncharted fan, but 4 was just another great iteration in my book. I'd vote Overwatch.

So to wrap this thread up the forum goty will kick off In 5 weeks time running like last year but starting around the first weekend in December. Im obviously gonna wait until all the big hitters have come out. I've got a feeling unchartered 4, dark souls 3 and Doom will be there or there about regardless of what's released up until the end of the year.

I think everyone is forgetting final fantasy xv. Besides that, I think uncharted 4 and battlefield 1 have a chance. It will probably be Overwatch though, because of how many people play it. I feel that Overwatch could be the next league in esports

@Avenger1030: I haven't forgotten ff15, its why the vote will take place after its released. But will it win goty? Probably not. Overwatch is a good shout, your obviously a fan - but is it better than Rocket League? That released at retail this year......

@themcnoisy: Regardless if Overwatch is better then Rocket League. Rocket League is ineligible because it was released in 2015.

1. Overwatch
2. CoD: Modern Warfare Remastered
3. Mafia III

I bought a lot of games this year. The games I enjoyed the most were Uncharted 4, Inside and Hitman. Currently enjoying watch dogs 2. It started off ok but really clicked during the Silicon Valley Nudle mission. Seems like a game I'll enjoy more when the main story missions are done and I can just mess around. Much like in witcher 3 I tend to enjoy the side missions more than the main story.

@JeffTurboWizard: Good to hear, I'm the total opposite. I've bought less new games this year than any other due to the kids. But as you say Hitman is a must buy from all of @anchorsam_9 reviews.

@Tasuki: Interesting. I thought people were not too hot on Mafia 3 for some reason. Care to explain why you think not only it is a great game, but actually worth of GOTY?

Not that I'm questioning your taste here, but I read a lot of mediocre things about it, pace wise, the controls aren't great, etc, and was thinking about whether or not I should give it a go, maybe you could provide me with a couple great reasons to try.

@xX_RiscazZ_Xx: The pacing can be a bit slow at the beginning but once you get into it it flows really good. But the beginning is more of a tutorial anyway so it's to be expected. Control wise I didnt have any problems. The music is great, the story is great aND just the atmosphere is great all around. While most people it might not be GOTY but I haven't played UC 4 nor will I so I cant and won't compare it to that and to be honest I havent played to many games that came out this year,, but regardless Mafia III is a great game.

Dragon Quest Builders was amazing. That said, not really much else I can think of. Almost nothing else really grabbed my attention this year. Take that how you will.

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi: I could see that if it was a true remaster like say the Arkham Collection, but Modern Warfare Remastered added more to the game like new modes and camos and such.

If expansions to games that came out the past few years like Destiny and Witcher count then I don't see why Remasters shouldn't.
