Well after a 8 days of farming trapezohedrons on FFXIII, my second one just dropped… just another 3 to go 🫠

I'm playing Dragon Age Origins, on PC, but close enough lol. It really is a great RPG, I see why it's so beloved. I want to play DA2 afterwards. The choice in Redcliffe was absolutely insane. One of the grimiest things I've ever seen in a game.

@BeyondKnight hopefully it’s better than ToD , because i’m bored to tears with my playthrough of ToD again. it’s not as good as i remember it being, especially since im playing right after replaying through the ps2 trilogy.

Well that’s the last Kleidos Challenge done on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2… and apparently the plat-blocker for most people. I get why too… out of the 16 challenges, I’d only rank 2 below tricky, 9 as tricky, 4 as very difficult and 1 (the one I just did… which took me over 3 hours of constant attempts… most of which lasted no longer than a few seconds 😅) as bordering on impossible.

So with those challenges done on the highest difficulty, that took my completion percentage to 110% also, so everything is done apart from a ng+ playthrough on Prince of Darkness difficulty. Having already experienced that difficulty during the challenges I’m aware that it won’t be easy but being able to just fight without the crazy constraints of Kleidos will hopefully enable a relatively smooth ride. If I get this, it will be the most difficult Character-Action plat I’d have gotten yet… but has also made me question whether I’m actually up to the ones to come (which are all considered more difficult than this one) namely Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 3, Devil May Cry 4, Devil May Cry 5, Vanquish and Metal Gear Rising. At 45, I better get a wriggle on while my reaction speed is still half-decent!

It’s been pretty awesome starting Deus Ex: Human Revolution today. I played it back in 2011 on 360 and remember enjoying it quite a bit but kinda forgot about it. Then I played Deus Ex: Mankind Divided a couple of years back and I remember liking that a fair bit too but thought at the time that it would be my last foray into its world as the trilogy-capper had been cancelled.

I’d picked up a copy of Human Revolution on ps3 to fill its place in my collection next to the sequel, never really intending on playing it but… when I deceived to clear as much of my ps3 backlog as possible this year, I felt that I had to include it… and now that I’ve gotten around to it, I’m glad I did.

Don’t think I’ve played an immersive-sim since I played the sequel a couple of years back and it feels real fresh as a result. Such a quality series… and so sad it’s been abandoned.

Fallout 3

Given it's history of having plenty of issues on PS3, we'll see how it goes. I plan on trying to creating new saves periodically and deleting previous ones to try to keep the save file below 10 MB. After loving the TV show though and never coming remotely close to finishing it on Xbox way back in the day, I'm hoping all goes relatively well at least.

Just watching someone play (via streaming) Resistance Fall of man on PS Plus Premium, it still looks really good after all these years. I was a big fan of the series and might even get Premium if there is a good Black Friday/Christmas/Easter deal. I’m currently unsubscribed from PS+ but these games and the PSVR2 “freebies” might lure me back in.
I shall be writing to Santa for a trilogy remaster.

@KilloWertz
Enjoy and I hope you don’t have any issues. I completed it with all the dlc and don’t recall too many issues, this was back in 2010 so hopefully Bugthesda cleaned up most of them.
I keep meaning to jump into Fallout 4 PS5 at some point.

@CaptD I don't think even Santa has enough power to convince Sony to do the right thing.

Anyways, thanks. Judging by online comments I believe at the very least the bug where the game save file becoming really large ends up making the game chug along still exists. That's why I plan on periodically making new game save files rather than just continuing to overwrite it over the course of the whole game like you would with any normal game.

I have Fallout 4 from when it was part of the group of games they were giving away for free during the first year of the PS5. I'll get to it someday. Since the TV show is going to New Vegas for Season 2, I plan on playing that one someday too before 4.

On a side note, I'm really going to have to get used to using L1 and R1 for shooting, unless I just remap the controls.

Gutted! Just finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Directors Cut and even though I was extremely conscious of the Foxiest of Hounds trophy (no alarms raised during the entire playthrough) and was incredibly careful… it didn’t pop 😔.

Buggy trophies aside (& it is notoriously buggy) it’s a fantastic game… and a great series (the Adam Jenson games at least… though I’m aware the original Deus Ex and Invisible War were also top notch). If anyone ever didn’t bother with these for whatever reason, I’d definitely suggest they consider giving them a go.

Oh well, I’ll run through my second playthrough on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 first and then try for an alarm free run on Deus Ex: Human Revolution after that. 🙏

I probably say this every year but I really wanna clear my PS3 backlog this year. I say clear… finish (& preferably platinum) the remaining games that are sat on the shelves and keeping me from unhooking the old fella. There is probably around 15 games that fit this description, so if I can squeeze in 1 per month, I’ll get pretty close at least.

Pulled this over from the resolutions thread, and was curious about how close you’ll get. I think you’ve probably played the vast majority of what you set out to do so far, but the list kind of expanded, if I’m recollecting the year correctly. 😅

Probably aren’t going to get to disconnect the ol’ guy yet, huh? Maybe 2026?

But seriously, I have been impressed with your dedication to the PS3 throughout the year. Especially with so many great games constantly being added for this generation. Do you plan to stay committed to the PS3 or are you going to take a break to pursue anything on the later gen consoles anytime soon?

@Th3solution hey bud, so while I created a whole new thread for assistance in whittling down my final post-2024 PS3 backlog of 24 games into 8, I’ll answer your specific questions over here to avoid any confusion.

So in terms of how close I’ll get… well I’ll have exceeded my aim in one way (plat’d pretty much double the amount of ps3 games I initially targeted) but also failed it (as I will still be playing some ps3 games over the next few years 😅). There are just a few games left that I have to play but I won’t make it this year unfortunately - Dead Space 2, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Just Cause 2… by which point, I’ll be so close to 50 ps3 platinums, that I may as well round-out the milestone.

I won’t be in any rush moving forwards though as I have at least two of those lined up for milestone plats (as and when those milestones occur), so while I have actually had an incredible time on ps3 this year (one of the best years of gaming I’ve ever had actually… pretty much all-killer-no-filler), it will be nice to get back to my ps4 and ps5 backlogs (which have grown exponentially during my self-imposed ps3 purgatory 🤣).

Finally made a start on my Prince of Darkness run on Castlevania: Lords of Darkness 2 today… I’ve been threatening to for over a week now but just felt burned-out on it after my first playthrough and all the challenges. I just couldn’t be arsed if I’m honest.

Made some decent progress today though, considering I only put about 3 hours in… I’d say I’m around a third of the way through. Isn’t seeming too difficult rn but the more difficult mobs and bosses are still to come. Didn’t mind getting back into it either, once I started… the change of pace I had with Deus Ex: Human Revolution must have freshened me up a bit.

So even though I’m neck-deep in my plat-pursuits on Final Fantasy XIII, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution… I do like to play something fresh on my mid-weekend, rather than chip away at stuff where I’ve already done 99% of everything the game has to offer. So I’m gonna make a start on Alice: Madness Returns. Everyone who’s played it seems to gush about it, so hopefully it’ll be a good time.

Alice: Madness Returns - cool game… I’m sure that I just got called a c**t by a drunk outside of a pub! 🤣

Been ticking-over on my Prince of Darkness run on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and reckon I’m just about on the home-stretch now. Hasn’t been too tough as of yet, long may that continue.

Been carrying on with my trapezohedron farm on Final Fantasy XIII too and in four days of adamantoise-slaughter… not a one! 🤨

@colonelkilgore I strangely never played Alice: Madness Returns back in the day. After looking up the review of it here, I'll probably track down a copy of it online at some point and add it to my PS3 backlog.

@KilloWertz so it’s like a mix between a mascot 3d platformer with a character-action game… wrapped up in an awesome Tim burton-esque aesthetic (more Sweeney Todd-Burton than Alice… -Burton though as it goes). Definitely worth a go!

@PorkChopExpress yeah it’s little things like that that brightens my day strangely enough 😅
