I have one of those backwards compatible fat PS3's that plays PS1 and PS2 games. I popped in an old favorite of mine called the suffering and my controller keeps losing the connection every time i try to play it. The controller just refuses to sync properly. I get this message on screen saying the controller was disconnected. I tried it with another PS2 game. Same crap, not syncing and my PS3 acts like it can't detect it.

I'm only having this issue while playing physical PS2 discs. Every other game on PS3, PSN or even PS1 works fine with no issues.

Am i missing something here?

@Truegamer79 If I recall correctly you asked about "The Suffering" on PS3 before! I think it's a backwards compatibility issue - not all PS2 discs work properly on the PS3 unfortunately.

Yes but before i was referring to the game being very glitchy on ps3 but this time I'm talking about my controller flat out refusing to respond while trying to play physical ps2 games.

@Truegamer79 Part and parcel of the same problem as far as I'm aware - something to do with the analogue controller mode on certain PS2 games.
