Quick note. I purchased the game on Xbox over a year ago and completed it. I'm now playing it again on PS3 mainly for trophy's. I noticed while playing the game i don't actually remember a whole lot of the game. I just about remembered the name's of the characters even. Other FF games mainly from 7 as far as 10 i can talk you through every part in them games and there was much more content in them games.
FF13 in my eyes is one of the weaker games in the series. I did not get hyped when i first seen the trailer footage but i did when i seen versus. But the longer it takes for that game to be released i worry it wont hold up to scratch. Something happened to this great series when it became Square-Enix co ltd. and i fear it wont regain its glory this far into the cycle.

Final Fantasy is a weird series just because it's so large and varied that different games appeal to different tastes. I personally remember XIII very vividly while X is just a haze of "follow that guy who looks like a cockroach" for forty hours. It all has to do with your personal preferences.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
Thats through. I think my problem is i didn't very much care for Lightning in XIII. I couldn't relate or believe in her goal. Your very much right in saying different games appeal to different tastes. The last game i grasp a feel for was Enslaved Odyssey Of The West. I felt connected to all the characters in that game and there story's had great feeling and depth to them. Such a hidden gem of a game that everyone should try out.

I just finished getting my plat in FFXIII-2 and plan to revisit my progress on FFXIII shortly (lost my gave save a couple years ago due to hdd failure).
The "issue" with the world of XIII is it's a bit confusing because they throw so much information at you so fast. There is so much back story regarding the fal'Cie and la'Cie that it got difficult (for me) to understand the relationships between the two. It took me two playthrus of XIII to feel like I firmly grasp the story and the goals of each character.
While I don't think SE did a good job explaining the back story to FFXIII (personally, I think that alone is worth a full game or at least a PSN/mobile release), the world if XIII is easily my favorite in all the Final Fantasy games. It's not the most popular opinion, but the character design, history, and how the story plays out was the most memorable to me and also the most interesting.
Lightning and Caius are the two most perfectly paired characters I've ever seen in a game. The rest of the supporting characters are also truly well written and developed. I don't really know if Lightning Returns FFXIII will have any merit (I feel like her story ended with the XIII-2 dlc was enough closure).
Old post, I know.. but I wanted to talk about FFXIII after my plat This was the first post I found regarding the game.
To save our Mother Earth from any alien attack
From vicious giant insects who have once again come back
We'll unleash all our forces we won't cut them any slack
