So will this still be the thread when the new VR headset drops or should another be created? Guess it is titled "General."

I just started playing The Persistance in VR and it's been a pleasant surprise. I've never played a first person survival horror/rogue lite game before. It's an interesting combination that somehow works. Although it is a much more slow paced rogue game compared to the others I have played (Hades, Rogue Legacy, Vertical Drop Heroes, Slay the Spire etc). It's challenging, but fair, so far. Anyone else play The Persistance in VR?

I’m planning on getting the PSVR2 when it comes out but before I do I’d like to try the original PSVR due to probability many of the games will not have an upgrade option when PSVR2 releases. Since I only have a PS5, will the PSVR work on that console or does it only work on PS4? I’ve seen second hand PSVRs for as low as £70 which is decent price considering how much it was when it first came out.

@MaccaMUFC works well on the ps5 but you need to request an adaptor from Sony, sent mine within a week 👍

@Deljo How much did that cost you? Also would I need to get anything else that’s required to play certain games like the camera and move/aim controllers or are they not necessary?

@MaccaMUFC It's free (or at least it was). You need the camera. Aim controllers are optional, depending on what games you're wanting to buy. Some require them.

Just had my invite to order PSVR2 tomorrow, no idea how open or restricted the process will be but hopefully snag one.

Also had an invite to pre-order but haven't made my mind up yet...

I got the invite for the PSVR2 and ordered it. Hopefully I have enough to pay it off in two months time! LMAO

@Octane I don't know whether to keep my pre-order or not. On the one hand the tech looks super impressive but on the other it's a very expensive bit of kit and the launch line up isn't exactly a pant wetter. If "Half Life Alyx" and 3D blu-ray support were confirmed then it might not be such a toss up.

@LN78 I'm still impressed with the regular PSVR, even though I probably haven't played it as much as I would've wanted to. But it was impressive enough that I want to give it another chance I think. Horizon looks good. And if there's a new Astro Bot, I'm definitely keeping it!

There's also a Star Wars game coming to PSVR2, and a Moss sequel! I think there will be plenty for me to enjoy.

@Octane "Astro" on the OG PSVR was incredible - another game like that would definitely be a big incentive. I guess I'm just after something really substantial and not just another barrage of party games and glorified tech demos.

I'm guessing the pre-orders have been pretty poor so far since the invite I got today lasts until release day, which is unheard of in these stock shortage times.

I would consider it got Horizon alone, but that's a lot of money for something I'll probably rarely use. There's already a lot of PS4 and PS5 games to play, let alone VR games too.

@KilloWertz PSVR was easier to justify for me. I got it for €180 a year after release and most games I bought were €10 during the holiday sales. I think I got four games with it, so combined it was €220, less than four full priced games at the time. This thing is €600, so it better be supported well.

@KilloWertz I don't think this was ever expected to go out of stock, tbh. Their projections for units shipped in the first few months were pretty high and it's still a niche product, unlike the console itself.

I got mine pre-ordered but with payment on pick up, so it's very non-committal. I most likely will pick it up at launch though.

What are you guys doing with your old PSVR headsets? I could probably trade the entire unit + motion controllers, VR gun & charging station in for about £100, but I’m a bit lazy & part of me just wants to keep hold of it.
Still got all my old consoles, so why should this be any different. Just wish it didn’t take up so much space.
Now that we know the PSVR2 won’t be bc stuff like the gun is entirely pointless. Luckily my VR set-up is at my parents house so it doesn’t really affect me, but the room is entirely set-up just to accommodate for the play space😂😅.

@Fight_Teza_Fight I genuinely don't know. Until Sony confirm whether or not 3D blu-ray is going to be supported (via a firmware patch) then I'll probably keep my current headset for watching 3D movies in my games room. Just incidentally, people should be able to do significantly better than £100 (especially with move controller wands included) on trade ins if Sony decide NOT to support 3D movie playback on the new device, so my advice would be to hold off on that until we find out!

@Octane That was a pretty good deal, so getting it made perfect sense. I was tempted once or twice to play some of the really good VR-only games, but the support of it was so sporadic by then that I ultimately just skipped it. Between the lack of games overall and how I would only have time to play it sporadically, it made it easy to pass.

I'd consider the PSVR2 someday if they did add 3D movie playback as my 3D TV died a couple of years ago, and obviously those aren't made anymore.

@Voltan Makes sense. With the way things were during this whole console generation so far, it's easy to assume things like this would be hard to come by at least initially. Obviously that's not the case here.

This coming out in the middle of a bunch of releases doesn't help for me either. There doesn't seem to be much of a letup for releases for several months straight that has already started, so there'd be no time for me to play this really at all. Like what @LN78 wants, if they add 3D movie playback to it like the original had, then I'd consider getting one eventually so I could finally watch some of my 3D Blu-rays again and play Horizon Call of the Mountain.

@LN78 Yeah that’s good advice. Think I’ll hold off. I don’t like selling of hardware as in most instances you end up regretting it- it’s just the physical space it takes up. Think I’ll need a dedicated shelf for the units by the time PSVR5 is out😅.
