Topic: PS4 Destiny Meet Up Thread

I just had the funniest night playing destiny yesterday, took the chillest party through VoG Hard, didn't get either Vision of Confluence, Fatebringer (that damn fatebringer) or the Praetorian Foil, but what I had in fun over 4 hours of continuous death by the most ridiculous methods imaginable more than paid for that.

The best example was probably getting obliterated by Atheon when everyone jumped to the middle platform and the relic holder burst out laughing and we all burst out laughing as well, not knowing what happened, not a single fire was shot into the damn glassy bastard. As it happens he was pressing the wrong button all along.

And this is why I still play it for a few hours a week. Sadly I'll leave it for now because I managed to get all my characters to 34, need to get some backlog taken care of.

Not really, The Witcher will take me the most time to play, but after that will be Batman Arkham Knight, which the greatest girlfriend in the world just got me to not get bored during the weekend she's away, I wasn't even meaning to play it until a GOTY edition came around. Guess not!

@kyleforrester87: Is there going to be anything to do in the loading screens - sandwiches - sandwiches? That's extremely dismissive. £40 though? After playing tonight Its gonna have to be massive and the new classes a lot different, the multiplayer maps need a refresh as well.

@themcnoisy: Yeah maybe! Your mileage will vary, much like the base game I guess. Did a couple of patrols tonight, I can't help but like this game haha. The sci-fi setting and decent music help keep me interested, to be fair.

@kyleforrester87: Destiny is weird the way its dominated this gen. With all the games, this has had the longevity. I hope other companies dont look at this model and copy - without the gameplay which makes you feel like a badass it just wouldn't work.

Yeah agreed. It's a difficult model, because on the one hand you've got the guys who want a deep story with minimal grinding and rerunning of areas, then on the other is the MMORPG crowd who are used to bigger worlds/more variety to sustain their passion for the grind, but perhaps forget that Destiny isn't supported by monthly subscription fees or even micro transactions (which is somewhat admiral, considering..you know, Activision.) so yeah the DLCs are maybe a tenner more than we'd like but I can appreciate what they are trying to do.

(Plus, don't forget Diablo - it's very similar in many ways, it's perhaps more rewarding due to more frequent and meaningful loot drops, but that wasn't always the case!)

I think another thing about MMOs is also that they can have so much content because the gameplay is terrible. It's souless number exchanges where you spam skills, sort of, but not really controlling what your doing. Maybe with a stupid dodge mechanic. This is my experience with Guild Wars 2 anyway. The gameplay was outdated and badly aged and might've woked 10 years ago. Destiny actually has a lot of care and work out into the gameplay, the catch is less content, but the gameplay has a soul and is fun when you go through it. It's quality over quantity in a huge way in my opinion. The only issue is the DLC overpriced with Destiny.

Is anyone around for a PoE run? Level 32 is fine to pick up an armour core. I'm level 33, up for running a 34 if a couple of higher levels want to.

I'm around from now until anytime later, really.
