Topic: PS5 hours played not updating

Since February I will open a game and play for let’s say 2 hours. I will close the game after 2 hours but my profile will say I last played the game 2 hours ago, and the total playtime counter will not update/increase.

I have tried everything under the sun to get this fixed. I have done multiple factory resets, I have gone into safe mode + cleared cache + rebuilt database.

I recently discovered there was a ‘Sync with PSN’ option when you go to Settings > Saved Data > Game Status. Every time I clicked that after I closed a game it would update my hours for me which was great. I had a power cut the other day and since then that button no longer works so now I have no way of tracking my playtime.

most of you will say it doesn’t matter but I like to see my statistics on games etc and it really triggers my OCD.

[For Example I played Elden Ring for 30 minutes, closed the game and it says I played the game 30 minutes ago and that will not count towards my hours played. It should say ‘Played Just Now’](https://ibb.co/XYbfMpK)

@Pepeisgod Well, if it's any consolation, the time-tracking statistics seem to be wonky for everybody, with more than a couple of discrepancies noted by most players, even if they're relatively minor.

If you had a power cut the other day, and one of your console's features isn't working properly anymore, then I suggest you do another Safe Mode + Rebuild Database loop. Regardless of any wider issue with PSN getting your game time wrong, power cuts aren't healthy for a console. Rebuilding the database might give it a chance to notice and fix any problems; otherwise, the next firmware update should do the trick, too.

As a fellow OCD hostage, I hope that works for you, and am sorry if it doesn't.

@RogerRoger yeah I have tried multiple database rebuilds and cache clears but nothing seems to work unfortunately. It’s been happening since February for me and there have been multiple firmware updates since then so I doubt they will tackle this issue

@Pepeisgod Ah, sorry to hear. Must be something on Sony's end, then. Like I say, nobody seems to be having a totally smooth time with their profile stats, so it must be a bit of a crapshoot. Mine have been mostly okay, but I have a few totals which simply don't add up. I've also had one game, the recent re-release of Syphon Filter, disappear from my PS5's profile page entirely, even though my PS4 still lists it (and tags it as a PS5 game). Your profile sounds consistently unlucky, though; again, sorry to hear.
