Topic: PS4 won't pass HDMI through PSVR Processing Unit

This is an incredibly frustrating problem.

Long story short, I was literally just playing my PSVR a week or so ago, no problems, everything is fine. Disconnected my PS4 to play at a friends house (without the processing unit and PSVR), still working fine.

Iron Man VR had an update, perhaps PSVR also had an update.

Next day I hook up my PS4 to the processing unit, same as always, and now HDMI signal is not going through to the processing unit, nor to my TV. The PSVR headset also has that no HDMI symbol on.

Here is the funny thing, the PS4 works perfectly fine. Connected straight to the TV and without the processing unit it is fine.

As well, the processing unit does boot up with the PS4, and has a solid white light.

I even tested my processing unit with my friend's PS4 and he had no problems, my processing unit worked fine!

Here is the crazy thing. When I hooked up my PS4 to my friend's processing unit, it didn't pass HDMI through!

So basically through testing, I found that my PS4 can transmit when connected directly to my TV. And my processing unit worked with my friend's PS4 and my TV. However, my PS4 won't pass through any processing unit! Neither my unit, nor my friend's!

I just reset my PS4 to factory settings, and that didn't change a thing.

So far PS4 support has been non-helpful.

Anyone ever experience this crazy odd problem? I wish I could reset the PSVR firmware on my PS4 itself, but not sure there is a way to do that.

I would like to potentially find an old PS4 Update file, and initialize my PS4 to an old update file, but not sure where to find those. Ideally a time pre PSVR.

I feel either Sony's new PS4 firmware, or the PSVR firmware or even the Iron Man VR update are to blame. The problem seems to be in my PS4's ability to transmit signal to any PSVR processing unit.

Thoughts?

Ive literally just ran into this problem today, you find anyway to fix it?? Sony Support is absolutely useless.

Sony support is useless. And ultimately they will simply tell you to unplug cords, replug cords, etc. Eventually they were telling me to send in my PSVR, but I was expressing to them that it isn't broken because it worked fine on my friend's PS4.

This is what fixed it:

So it turns out that the problem is with the HDMI port on my ps4 itself. When I took out the HDMI cord, I shined a light inside and I noticed that one of the gold contact strips was sticking straight up! Somehow after years of pulling cords in and out, one of the gold contacts got pushed up.

So this singular cold contact was 100% necessary in making the PS4 pass through the PSVR hdmi box. Because like I said above, the PS4 would work directly connected to a TV but not the PSVR box.

So I very very very carefully got a little paperclip and bent part of it. I then inserted it into the HDMI port, hooked it around the gold contact strip that is sticking up, and did my best to gently bend it back downward so that it is flush like the other gold strips are.

I was able to get it down, but almost half of the gold contact strip broke off. I then inserted an HDMI cord into the port, but I did it in a fashion that was smooth and gentle (as not to bend the gold contact back up).

I connected to the PSVR box and it worked! However, the slightest movement of the HDMI cord connected to the PS4 makes the image on occassion flicker in and out. But not all the time.

So I basically had to tape the HDMI cord sealed into the PS4, so that way it never comes out again.

Basically if the HDMI cord comes out, I am unsure if I will be able to fix this again.....
