Topic: PlayStation Duel Entitlement Game causing issues?

Hi I am having issues with my PlayStation 4 Pro and I suspect it may be related to a duel entitlement game.

Background info so it will answer many questions others may have.

I have a well maintained PlayStation 4 Pro which has never caused me any issues until tonight. By well maintained I mean well ventilated, surfaced wiped with microfiber cloths to keep dust build up away, always running on latest firmware, and never been dropped, knocked or damaged.

I have been used it regularly last couple of weeks and today in Australia FIFA 21 Ultimate Edition released. (First duel entitlement game I have installed or know of). I put the disc in and the game installed along with the latest patch fine. I launched the game and played for about an hour and everything was fine. When I finished with FIFA 21 I ejected the disc and put in another PS4 game and the game would not launch with a "Cannot recognize disc" error. I thought this was strange as I have never seen this error before. I tried restarting the PS4 Pro and launching the game again with the same error. I put in FIFA 21 again and it was also throwing up the same error.

After some researching on the internet I followed official PlayStation advice and rebooted the PS4 Pro into safe mode and rebuilt the database. After this was done I tested the game discs again and unfortunately the same error occurred. I then turned off the PS4 Pro and unplugged it for 3-4 minutes then plugged it back in, powered it up and tested the game discs again... same error. I watched some YouTube videos and did some more trouble shooting. I rebooted into Safe mode again and re-installed firmware and that also didn't work. I started thinking it was a hardware issue and my optical Blu-ray drive had failed.

I tried my PS4 PRO in different positions (vertical and horizontal) and tried tapping the PS4 above the disc drive when it started to read, still same error. To see if it was a optical drive failure I put in a DVD movie and to my amazement it launched no problem. I tried a Blu-ray movie and that also launched and played without issue. So its not an optical drive/Blu-ray drive issue.

I have tested 5 different PS4 disc games and the unrecognize disc error occurs on all but all non-game discs play without issue. Its early days with FIFA 21 just launching but has someone else have the disc version of the game installed and then able to test if they can play other older disc games still?

I know weird things can happen with tech and I'm wondering if the duel entitlement game has corrupted the software/firmware making disc games unplayable. Sounds unusual but the only thing I did different tonight was launch a cross gen game.

Hope someone can verify this, others have this issue? Fingers crossed its a firmware problem.
