Earlier today, eagle-eyed fans discovered that a new release date had popped up on The Last of Us: Part II's Amazon product page. The PlayStation 4 exclusive was delayed indefinitely a couple of weeks back due to the ongoing coronavirus situation. Sony has not yet issued a new release date.
Anyway, the aforementioned Amazon page temporarily had the title listed for release on the 26th June 2020. If true, it means that the game will have been pushed back just under a month, from its previous 29th May 2020 launch date.
Sometimes Amazon does leak this kind of information by accident, but we have serious doubts regarding this specific rumour. For starters, a delay of less than a month seems awkwardly short given the current state of the world. Again, Sony stated that the delay is indefinite -- the whole thing's completely up in the air.
On top of that, another PS4 exclusive title is currently scheduled for the 26th June, 2020. We are, of course, talking about Ghost of Tsushima. There's absolutely no way that both The Last of Us: Part II and Ghost of Tsushima would release on the same day, so if this leak is somehow legit, then it probably means Ghost will be delayed to make room (although honestly, we can see Ghost of Tsushima being delayed regardless).
But as alluded, it's much, much more likely that this is just some weird error on Amazon's part.

Probably just a placeholder - unless ghost is being moved to July or September (in which case it would be up against cyberpunk)
I believe a majority of AAA games will be pushed out to 2021. Good thing I have a massive backlog.
EDIT: Has this picture of Ellie always had a blood soaked floor with a corpse and machete while she carelessly strums her guitar? If so, I'm just now noticing the carnage.
Press “X” to doubt
@Rob_230 or august.
Seems like the better fit. Not to close to cyberpunk but far enough from TLOU. it's not that people Will go on holliday this summer in many Parts of the world...
I believe it, ghost delayed to july.
I highly doubt they went to so much trouble of cancelling the digital preorders,and giving everyone store credit,only to put the release date a month later. This is not coming in June.
@jdv95 you know i discounted August, but you make a great point. I read Finland are proposing stopping summer holidays this year, so this wont be a normal year. August may be a good shout (particularly if around my birthday).
I'd actually prefer it the other way round mind. Way more hyped for this than TLOU2
@lacerz I'm with you, never seen the floor corpse before!! 😂
I don't know mate. Seems unlikely, unless they push GoT out of that week.
It's 2020 and people/sites still write "news" about Amazon release dates. A DATE ON AMAZON MEANS SH*T, NADA, ZERO
Id buy both same day. Wth else do we have to do lol
I actually cancelled my pre-order that i've had since announcement today. Kinda losing all interest in this from everything I'm hearing in the rumour mill.
They've been making a few errors lately.
One in particular, I preordered Final Fantasy VII Remake in April 2016 and they changed the date to 14/04/20 max delivery time of 8pm. While all my friends who lived further away from me to the distribution centre got their copies early despite only preordering one month ago, Amazon at 6pm yesterday changed the arrival date to 24/04/20. Presumably as they'd given all their stock out to customers paying full price.
No honour whatsoever and all they said was "You can feel free to cancel your preorder". It's sold out everywhere here.
I'll think twice about buying from them again.
@Grimwood
I can certainly agree with that.
I'm absolutely ecstatic for 'the last of us part 2' to be released as the original game is my favorite single player game of ALL time! I beat the original game on PS4 then got the remastered version the day it became available on PS4 and beat the game 2 more times on different difficulties lol. Last of us part 2 looks to be phenomenal and I commend naughty dog for taking the time needed to make sure the sequel lives up to the masterpiece quality of the original game. I just truly hope the game has a 2020 release date as I'd be pretty bummed if it missed 2020 altogether. Happy gaming 😉💨✌️
As long its not a friday they can launch it whenever they want.
Well, i don't quite rule this out, because they've had this grand plan from the start of releasing Last Of Us 2 before Ghost for some odd reason, you'd think Last Of Us 2 would be the final big PS4 exclusive before the new consoles but it seems SONY have alot more faith in Ghost closing out the year than Last Of Us 2..
I mean the fact both games before the delay to TLOU2 were releasing 1 month apart pretty much confirms they are both done 100% and really can be put wherever.
The problem is if TLOU2 were to take that June 26 spot then where realistically would Ghost go? both July & August are well known for being the drought months...
@hulkie the refunds are an automated process that happens when a PSN game loses a solid release date. It probably took 3-5 clicks to set it all in motion, no skin of anyone's back.
I think they should release both games on same day because both games sound like they will be great games
If the game is as political as the rumours say it'll be a pass for me. I play games for escapism, not to be lectured by self righteous people like Neil Druckman
