Destiny 2 Forsaken Power 500 Levelling Guide

Destiny 2: Forsaken is here, and with it is the new soft Power cap of 500. Power level 500 is the number that you'll be aiming for as you play through Destiny 2's new expansion, but how exactly do you get there? In this guide, we're going to go over what you need to do, while also providing handy tips on how best to gear up your Guardian.

How to get to Power Level 500 In Destiny 2: Forsaken

As mentioned, 500 is the target Power level for those of you playing Forsaken. Fortunately, it's not too difficult to make it to 500 -- you just need a bit of patience (and maybe a touch of luck).

Farm Blue Engrams

Yes, that's right, blue engrams are once again your best way of building your Power level in Destiny 2: Forsaken. Blue engrams that drop throughout the expansion, whether they're loot from enemies or rewards from activities, will likely be above the Power level of your current equipment, and this will continue until you hit Power level 500.

Although there's a temptation to keep you Legendary and Exotic equipment that you may already have, doing so will slow down your progression immensely. This is because infusion (the act of feeding higher level equipment to your preferred equipment in order to boost its Power) is now much more expensive. You now need various materials as well as glimmer and legendary shards to infuse, and you'll be finding so many blue engrams that it's just not a cost or time efficient way to increase your Power level.

As such, save infusion for when you have gear that you really want to use and you're at or around Power level 500. Until then, just keep farming those blue engrams along with the occasional Legendaries that you come across.

Playing through the main campaign, or story, of Forsaken is a good way to get your power level up and running. You should find plenty of blue engrams as you progress, even if they're just from defeated enemies.

Once that's done, try your hand at the new public events, or take on patrol missions in the new Tangled Shore zone. Basically, just play as you like, and you'll eventually get to 500 or thereabouts.

How to go beyond Power Level 500 in Destiny 2: Forsaken

Once you're at Power level 500, the next question is: how do you go beyond that? Well, this is where 'powerful' rewards come into play. Much like in the base game, 'powerful' engrams will almost always push you further. These are the engrams that you get from completing weekly challenges and that kind of stuff.

If you can, it's worth saving these activities for when you're around Power level 500, otherwise you're only going to get equipment that will soon be surpassed by blue engrams. Again, you can always keep this powerful equipment for later and use infusion to bring it up to speed, but, as mentioned, infusion is much more expensive now, so it's not the best idea.

Speaking of powerful rewards, you'll have plenty of opportunities to get them at the end of the main story campaign. Once it's finished, you'll gain access to the Dreaming City, an endgame area that's great for acquiring endgame loot.
