Well would you look at that, a reasonably important PlayStation 4 release has made it to the top of the Japanese software charts - and it's about bloody time. Bandai Namco's Tales of Berseria entered the charts with sales of 173,537 copies on Sony's current-gen console and 76,186 copies on PS3. At first glance, those figures seem pretty good, until you realise that other recent Tales titles - including Tales of Xillia and Tales of Zestiria - have opened with better numbers on PS3 alone.
However, even with Berseria's relative success, the PS4 wasn't able to make the jump back to the top of the hardware charts, and we don't expect this positioning to change for at least another few weeks - not when the PS4 Slim and 'Neo' are both looming dangerously close on the horizon.

Wish we were getting the PS3 version in the West.
I think that Zestiria has put a stain, or something like that, in Tales of series. And the franchise as a whole is declining since a long time. It's not bad, but it's a far cry from Xilia, Symphonia or other great titles.
Just how many Tales games are there already? The very definition of a mass-produced RPG series.
Poor sales compared to previous Tales games, I wonder how much of that is the dying console market in Japan, versus the disappointment people had with Zestiria. Probably a combination of the two.
Was looking forward to Berseria but after failing to finish Tales of Zestiria (the only Tales game I never complete) because of the stupid main boss at the end,it's sort of crushed any anticipation I had for this game.Will still buy though.
And yes I agree with @Frank90 the Tales games aren't half as good as the older ones,my Faves being Tales of Graces F,Symphonia and The Abyss.
@Wazeddie22 Just levelup a bit.
I've only played Vesperia and the first Xillia. I still have Symphonia sitting on my PS3 untouched. I wish it was on the Vita.
@Flaming_Kaiser dang,I KNEW there was something I could do to make it easier!
this one is looking good, zesteria was pretty poor and tales of zillia 1 and 2 were ok but too samey, my favorite tales game is defo the tales of the abyss . we will finally meet the pirate king . probably be a first quarter release for the uk
