A question of faith

After confirming last year in an interview with Bloody Disgusting that Outlast 2 was in development, Red Barrels has released an announcement trailer that gives a release date of Fall 2016. We can't infer much from said trailer, but it does show a burning cross, which could be attributed to the original Outlast's Father Martin, who torched himself – and others – on burning crosses.

Co-Founder of Red Barrels, Philippe Morin, wasn't much help either, stating in a press release: "No conflict is ever black and white. Once the dust has settled, the victors get to decide who is right and who is wrong. Human nature pushes us to extreme violence and depravity which we then justify by divine inspiration and paradise to come. Outlast 2 will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do."

That press release probably affirms our inference that Outlast 2 could be based on Father Martin, or religion as a whole, as the phrases "divine inspiration" and "paradise to come" seem to be talking about religion. Still, are you excited for Outlast 2 next year? What do you reckon it could be about? Hide under a bed in the comments below.
