With action games becoming dime a dozen, developers really have to make their titles stand out in the difficult video game market these days. Taking guns, samurai swords, and magic while smushing them all up together into a ball of pure madness, however, sounds pretty awesome. Upcoming title Shadow Warrior will thankfully tick those boxes and more on the PlayStation 4 on 26th September in Europe, and presumably a little earlier in North America.
Co-published by Devolver Digital and Bandai Namco – allowing us to hold a physical copy in our grubby little mitts – the game is a reboot of the original 1997 title of the same name, but with a modern swing. Playing as Zilla Enterprise's corporate shogun Lo Wang, you must track down a legendary blade that is connected to Gods from another realm, and is part of a whole load of bad voodoo. It's safe to say that the world is going to be destroyed, and it's your job to fix the mess – as it always is.
Rather than showing the obvious bloodshed of your victims as you slash them to bits in a pretty yet predictable trailer, the video below reveals all of the optional extras that you'll be able to take full advantage of instead. While we don't want to spoil the surprise of the embedded content below, we'll just say that we're looking forward to some next-gen tree swaying. Has this trailer managed to tickle your funny bone? Clearly.....The return of the TRUE FPS form is nigh with all these similar titles getting announced lately.
This looks absolutely brilliant. FPS games are some of my faves, but since COD became big, they have all been a monumental waste of time (mostly). Losing all their charm, hardcore nature, creativity, longevity, etc in the process. I hope the trend of returning them to the roots continues.
Why you wanna take all my money. I need this game! After wolfenstein of course. Anyone put off by bungie will have their eye on this I imagine...
This will be a physical release? Or digital?
Physical definitely.
Digital possible.
nice, i would jump on this
Looks good enough to merit a reservation.
