"I see dead people"

Square Enix’s spooky Salem investigation Murdered: Soul Suspect couldn’t quite catch its killer quick enough to topple Watch Dogs and Mario Kart 8 in the UK sales charts, with the brand new property entering in a still respectable third position. Ubisoft’s aforementioned hack happy escapade held onto the top spot despite an 81 per cent drop in sales, marking the first time since Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier that the French firm has had back-to-back number ones.

The chart tells a familiar tale elsewhere, with Wolfenstein: The New Order, FIFA 14, and Call of Duty: Ghosts all fleshing out the top ten. Gran Turismo 6 gained ten places on its competitors on the back of ongoing retail promotions, crossing the finish line in 25th position overall. Sadly, the likes of inFAMOUS: Second Son and Killzone: Shadow Fall have now fallen out of the Top 40, with Minecraft: PS3 Edition being the only other Sony published release on the list.
