"We've got to stop meeting like this"

Splinter Cell: Blacklist will plot the return of the franchise’s iconic Spies vs. Mercs multiplayer mode. Judging by the trailer embedded below, the playlist will be shedding its two-on-two origins in favour of an eight player experience. Objectives will remain the same, though, with the stealth squad tasked with hacking data, while the armoured soldiers attempt to keep the MacGuffin material safe.

There’s the hint of some new equipment in the video, including explosive drones and invisibility cloaks. However, the emphasis on light and dark looks set to feature prominently once again, with the mercs outfitted with motion trackers and flashlights. You’ll be able to illuminate the option for yourself on 20th August in North America and 22nd August in Europe, when the game is set to release on the PS3.
