The Playstation 2 Market Continued To Contract In '09.

3billion due to a contracting Playstation 2 market.

Playstation family revenue was $6.4billion in 2008, but Gamasutra reckon that number dropped as low as $5.1billion last year.

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter reckons $700million were lost due to a drop in Playstation 2 software revenue over 2009. The PS2 also received a price-cut in early '09 which could contribute another $150million.

Other financial losses are attributed to the PSP, with Cowen & Company suggesting the handheld segment of the Playstation family shed $200million in 2009.
