Moments Like This From A CoD4 Ad Are Why Sony Are Rebranding the PLAYSTATION 3 To PS3.

Gone is the Spider-Man font and full title "PLAYSTATION 3". Heck, it's all about just the "PS3" these days.

Kaz Hirai explained the change as a "reset" in the Times Online (via Joystiq), stating Sony are returning to their "roots".

"When you have PlayStation 3 spelt out, the aspect ratio was such that if you wanted it on a billboard it became tiny. It didn't work in terms of visibility," Kaz admitted.</blockquote>

So it's not only a rebirth for the system, but there are practical reasons behind the change aswell. Joystiq captured the above image from an old Call Of Duty 4 trailer. We're sure you can imagine the minimal, but worthwhile, impact the change will have.
