Square Enix producer Yoshinore Kitase reckons there are no plans to release a disc based demo for Final Fantasy XIII in the West, however, Kitase reckons a PS3-only demo would be unfair considering the 360 release of the game over here
He did conclude that he "would like to check" the possibility of offering the demo as a download. We're not quite sure how feasible 5GB's of demo are, but, hope at least.
