Mercury Steam Are Wrestling With The XBOX 360's Storage Limitations.

Last time, Capcom's Jun Takeuchi basically conceded that content had been cut from Lost Planet 2 (both XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3) to get the game on a DVD. It sucks, because those of us with PlayStation 3s are often suffering due to the 360's storage limitations. Ever played a game and wondered why the cut-scenes are so compressed? We hazard that's a result of the 360 and it's frustrating; especially when the PS3's blu-ray can hold so much data.

The problem's rearing its head again. This time with Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow. Thankfully, it appears the guys over at Mercury Steam are not planning on cutting content to fit their game on Microsoft's antiquated storage medium. In fact, they're calling out Microsoft over the issue.

<span>Mercury Steam boss David Cox told CVG: "Microsoft actually sent their tech guys to the studio to see the game and look at [how we're] compressing it, but they said: 'Okay, it's good. You're doing all you can.'

"I think it's something Microsoft are going to experience more and more - that they need to help developers overcome the storage problem."</span>

Cox was quick to balance the argument, stating that the PlayStation 3 does have some loading issues:

"I mean, each console has it's own issues [360's smaller disc capacity and PS3's slower loading times], but you have to work around them."

In the case of Castlevania, Cox has revealed that the XBOX 360 version of the game will ship on two discs. Certainly this is good news for those of us with PlayStation 3s, as it's unlikely content will be cut to make the games "equal". Hopefully, we're not going to end up with sub-HD cut-scenes, though.
