NieR Automata PS4

NieR director Yoko Taro, NieR series producer Yosuke Saito, and NieR composer Keiichi Okabe are all working on a new game together, it's been confirmed, but nobody's willing to say whether the project is actually a NieR title yet. Speaking to Famitsu, Saito teased: "I'll have something a bit more put-together to say in the not-too-distant future, so please stay tuned. It might be NieR, it might not be NieR. (Laughs.)"

The series producer explained he had been wanting to team up with Yoko Taro and Keiichi Okabe once again "for some time now" alongside other projects he has in the works. "I’m doing various things with the idea of creating something that does not yet exist,” he adds. "I can’t devote my time to that fully, so most of it has been left to the staff, but it’s turning into something quite interesting. I’m looking forward to the day we can announce it."

Given the fact Saito said there'll be something more official to share in the "not-too-distant future", there's a possibility the project shows up at a summer showcase next month around Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest. In the time since NieR Automata launched in early 2017, fans have only had PS4 remake NieR Replicant to play. There's certainly demand for a brand new entry in the series, with a reveal potentially just around the corner.
