Re: Guerrilla's Delectable Decima Engine Being Used in Several PS5 Projects

A game engine is the heart and soul of a game. How’s it’s built and how well it runs. It’s a loop that cycles through at the power of your system. It loads all assets, takes the user input to send events to the programs to make you walk etc, animates, triggers sounds, parses all the gfx and physics, and that’s just the start 😂.
The trick for the devs is to make it run at its optimum frames per second for every device. These days that’s anything from 60fps to 120, and at least a steady 30 fps for last gen.

Unreal 5 has been a huge step forward, and yep most companies are now dropping their proprietary engines for it. The success of this engine is definitely an interesting alternative and I’d love to see a side by side comparison of native features and how easy it is to adapt new ones.
