Agreed - hopefully the EU can force them to allow other stores onto the PS platform to improve competition. I really don't know how they've gotten away with it for so long.
If Sony are going ahead with the digital-only future, there needs to be more competition with digital sales. Steam etc. need to be given access to the Sony platform so Sony can't control the prices.
