I purchased this game upon release on PS4 at full price, and I have to say... I am loving it. Been playing it every day after work since, and the interactions between other players have been both hilarious, and intense. Once you get geared up heavily with the Military guns and clothes, armor etc, then encounters with other players become extremely intense because neither of you wants to lose your gear, so do you try make a truce? Or do you not risk it and just try to take each other out instead? I've also met 5 other players from the game who I now play with most evenings, we meet up, we help each other out, stick together, chat, laugh, hunt, forage, loot, set up camp at night and just talk s*** for an hour while we wait for daylight, this alone has taken the game to a whole new level of enjoyment from when I was just running around on my jack jones.
You can't polish a turd, which is the good thing about DayZ, because the game itself is not turd... it just needs polish. The inventory system on console is woeful, it's clunky, un-intuitive, a ballache… The frame rates do drop too often, cars can be glitchy, guns currently jam and there is no way to unjam them, people use a glitch called duping to dupe gear, people server hop from one server to another to farm loot, people combat log (pussy out of fights and leave the server to avoid being killed) … but I know most of these things will be fixed in the 1.04 Patch which is allegedly due to be released this month - which will also reset every ones characters so all the dupers (cheaters basically) will have to restart fresh and won't be able to dupe r server hop anymore. It's a great experience, especially when you build friendships and get a little band of survivors working together. I would recommend getting it while it's "Cheaper" .. but hey, all this is just my humble opinion. YouTube is Taktikz if you'd like to check out some of my DayZ videos from PS4 I have already done.
