I don't agree with what you say, if you would have done your research correctly, you would know that the variations of the games are important, the jp version of hard corps is way easier then the us contra. You have more life's and continues etc, so great of Konami to have the differences and small very important details, hardcorps is way different, I had to sign up to this board, just to write this clarification....
