You may have already seen the CG movie Resident Evil: Death Island, which brings an all-star ensemble of Capcom’s zombie thwacking action heroes to Alcatraz.
But if you’d like to read the misadventures of Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Rebecca Chambers, and more in manga format, then know that Titan Comics has picked up Zino’s illustrated adaptation of the film – and it’s launching in English from next month.
Books aren’t like video games so release dates tend to fluctuate wildly, but you can expect this on store shelves anywhere from 29th September through 13th October for $12.99/£9.99 – I’m seeing a bunch of different dates around the web.
The art looks really fantastic for this Avengers-esque effort, which was first published via Kadokawa’s Comic Hu platform. I’m not sure exactly how many volumes there’ll be in total, but the first instalment will have about 240 pages, so should include a good number of chapters.

Obviously if you’ve already watched the movie then you should be familiar with the overarching plot, but mangas tend to have a bit more space to breathe, so there should be some fun new plot threads for fans to explore.
I am hoping this adaptation is successful, because I’d love to see spin-off Resident Evil: Heavenly Island also get an English run.
This manga – written by Dai Satou and drawn by Naoki Serizawa – is already inexplicably available in both French and German, so I’ve no idea why we don’t have an official English translation yet.
It puts a kinda Dead Island-style twist on Resident Evil lore, set after the events of Resident Evil 6.
