Some fans of The Elder Scrolls got a bit carried away over the weekend when a former developer's LinkedIn profile had supposedly outed an unannounced project.
Rumours started swirling on social media and Reddit, before a number of gaming websites picked it up. However, the owner of said profile quickly debunked all of the speculation.
FRVR got in touch with Griffin DeClaire, who previously worked as an associate quest designer at Bethesda before Microsoft's recent round of mass layoffs came into effect.

DeClaire had noted that they were working on an "unreleased Elder Scrolls title". To many of you reading this, you'd immediately assume that they were referring to The Elder Scrolls 6 — and you'd be right.
But that's not how the hype machine works. As mentioned, several prominent industry 'insiders' took the story and ran with it on social media, claiming that the post was evidence of a second Elder Scrolls title being in the oven.
In reality, that whole angle made no sense to begin with. Bethesda leadership has stated, at least a couple of times by now, that the company is almost entirely focused on The Elder Scrolls 6 — a game that we're still yet to behold in any meaningful capacity.
Sometimes, job listings and developer profiles can be an intriguing source of information, but they can also be very easy to misinterpret.
