I Waited All Gen for a K-pop Game, Then Got Two on PS5 at Once 1

Everyone knows I’m excited for the upcoming K-pop Idol Stories, a kinda tycoon management game from PQube.

But I guess we owe this second game to the global success of K-pop Demon Hunters, because Microids is looking to jump on the craze as well.

I’ll level with you: I don’t think K-pop Rising: Dream to Shine looks anywhere near as good as the aforementioned K-pop Idol Stories.

In fact, reading through the press release I’m not sure I fully understand what the loop is here; it looks like you create your own character and need to rise through the ranks to idol stardom.

Here’s what the blurb says:

“In K-pop Rising: Dream to Shine, players immerse themselves in the demanding and fascinating world of modern music. Accompanied by their best friend Nova, they will need to commit 100% to the race for stardom: from intensive training sessions in the studio to the ultimate recognition on the most prestigious stages, the title offers a complete experience combining a sense of rhythm, deep customisation, and community management in the era of social media.”

The 3D graphics look ancient (they remind me of an old 90s music video) – certainly a million miles away from the manhua style of the abovementioned effort.

The press release does mention rhythm-based gameplay, so I guess that’s going to be a core part of the experience. You’ll also be able to play in co-op as a trio.

The title’s due out on 5th November, but if I was you, I’d probably keep a closer eye on K-pop Idol Stories, which is releasing in a couple of weeks.
