Black Ops 6 Finally Free of Infamous Call of Duty PS5 App

Makes you wonder why they put the games on that stupid app or whatever it is to begin with!

I really hate the CoD launcher. Forcing you to basically have two games installed just so they can juice their concurrents and pretend that everyone playing BO6 and Warzone are actually playing BO7.

I actually stopped playing on PC a bit ago because it was pretty much a 5-10 minute process for me to get the game started, and that’s without any errors.

I’d open the CoD app, wait close to 2 minutes, it would say “update requires restart”, it would reopen and waste another minute, then it would open Black Ops 6 client which sometimes errored out or just re-opened the regular CoD client. Then the Black Ops 6 menu is separate from the “online menu” so then it would shut down that and reopen in the online menu. It took so long it’s just frustrating.

I’m really hoping this works fine now. It was a disgraceful unoptimized mess and Activision should be ashamed of it.

@CheesyOatcake I wouldn't mind it so much except for the fact that the launcher includes a TON of the current game's code. I never bought BO7, but if I wanted to play BO6 or Warzone, I'd need like half of BO7 installed. Absolute insanity.

Ultimately, I think MW3 is a better MP game anyway, so I just have that installed and gave up on BO6 and Warzone.

So how does this work? I have MW2 & 3 as well as BO6 & 7, but they're all showing as DLC under MW2. Am I able to pop the paltinum trophy for those or are they just permanently locked as DLC under MW2? Anyone know?

@DETfaninATL Anything attached to the CoD launcher is considered DLC. When the games get split off, they're treated like new games in the backend, so you'd need to earn all the trophies again, I think.

To do that, you need to go to the store and "buy" the standalone games/add them to your library. If you bought them when they were part of the CoD HQ launcher, then the standalone file packages are free.

@wildcat_kickz I wanted to play the 2014 COD from PS4 to get one trophy I just gave up its a nightmare to install that nonsense and getting it to work .

@Flaming_Kaiser Was that AW? I'm pretty sure I have all the single player trophies, but when I saw all the trophies for the co-op wave-based stuff, I noped out hard. I was also playing it years after, so the servers were very empty. The only CoD I've ever gotten the plat in was MW2019 and that was only because all the trophies were single player.
