Black Ops 6 PS5 PS4

Nobody likes the storage hog that is the Call of Duty app on PS5 and PS4, so there's always a reason to celebrate when a game no longer requires it.

From tomorrow, 7th July 2026, the Call of Duty app will no longer be needed to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The game will become a completely standalone download, freeing it of the app's demands and large install sizes.

This also happened around a similar time last year to Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, which also allowed the two titles to finally have a Platinum Trophy on PS5. The same is happening for Black Ops 6, as Exophase has picked up an updated Trophy list containing a Platinum.

It seems like Activision is allowing Call of Duty entries to be part of the app for just shy of two years, and then the titles become their own thing. This now means Black Ops 7 is the only main game in the Call of Duty app, though Modern Warfare 4 will be drafted in from October when it launches.
