At this point Phantom Blade Zero has to be one of the most anticipated PS5 games of the year — and so this news of a delay definitely stings a bit.
The incredible looking action title briefly showed up during Sony's latest State of Play, promising a gameplay deep dive later this summer.
However, what that trailer didn't tell us is that the game's no longer launching on the 9th September. Instead, it's been pushed back to the 29th October.
The delay was confirmed via the game's official social media accounts after the showcase.
Developer S-GAME writes, rather candidly: "A 50-day delay cannot solve everything. But it does give us enough time to complete a number of clearly defined and genuinely important improvements."
Part of me is breathing a sigh of relief right now. In case you haven't noticed, September's PS5 release schedule borders on insanity — and so not having to think about Phantom Blade Zero until the end of October is actually quite nice.
How do you feel about Phantom Blade Zero? Are you looking forward to this so-called gameplay deep dive? Remember to properly time your attacks in the comments section below.

Most 👏 hyped 👏 game
Probably for best. October was starting to feel alone and scared.
Kinda close to GTA 6 I don't know if this was a good idea
GTA needs to release immediately that game is f.... The companies release schedules is starting to get annoying
THANKS GOD.
By the end of the SoP I was so traumatized by September launches that I fully expected GOW to drop that month.
And I am playing this instead of GTA6, of course.
I don’t understand why it’s a “relief” thay it isn’t launched in September. Who cares if multiple games you want to play come out in the same month? Buy the games you want and play them in the order you want.
@DartLOD Can't speak for everyone but part of why I like playing games at launch is the community aspect: there's something special about experiencing it alongside a massive number of active players all discovering things at the same time. Sharing reactions, theories, and those "wait did you see that?!" moments in real time hits different compared to playing months later when the hype has died down and everyone's moved on. It's difficult when they overlap.
@DartLOD Likely a relief for the review staff who have to play all of the games and write their reviews. For you and me though, I agree. Many games are at their best at reduced cost with bugs worked out.
